Falken Eurowinter HS01 Tire Review & Rating
The Falken Eurowinter HS01 and HS01 SUV are a studless, performance winter tire bearing the Three-Peak Mountain Snowflake (3PMSF) symbol designed for medium to large cars and SUVs.
The Eurowinter tire features a directional tread pattern for enhanced water evacuation. Its aggressive tread design includes 3D canyon sipes which move and lock together under load while still offering up a large amount of sipe edges for biting force and braking grip on ice and snow.
Extra notches in the tread block are actually designed to keep the blocks stiff and enhance stability, which gives these tires both consistent, stable grip under cornering forces but also promotes tread life. The grooves widen toward the outside to force water out faster.
Falken applies its 4D Nano Technology to the compound of this tire, effectively infusing it with molecules of silica which help the tire remain flexible and compliant in colder temperature without collapsing in hotter weather.
Sizes are available for 16” to 21” rims, and each tire has a speed rating of V or W, for speeds up to 149 mph or 168 mph. Load ratings span from 88, or 1,235 lb per tire to 105, or 2,039 lb.
Pros:
- Consistent grip and performance in all conditions
- Relatively long tread life
Cons:
- Less effective in deeper snow
- Loud
Overall Thoughts
Falken’s Eurowinter HS01 offers stable, reliable straight-line braking and acceleration traction on wet and icy roads as well as those with light snow covering. The tires are less effective in deep snow and can lose traction quickly under high cornering loads.
Drivers report decent comfort and consistent grip levels, especially in the wetter conditions, but also report that this is a louder tire than many of its competitors. The tire has no treadwear warranty but does have a projected tread life of 65,000 miles, so you can expect decent longevity.
Choose the Falken Eurowinter HS01 if you drive frequently in moderate winter conditions with cold weather and light snow or freezing rain. This tire offers impressive aquaplaning resistance and consistent, reliable road manners during variable weather conditions.

Competitors & Alternatives
Drivers looking for better snow performance will appreciate the Continental WinterContact TS 850 or the Dunlop Winter Sport 5, though those tires are both a step up in price points. Hankook Winter i*cept RS2 tires sit in the same price bracket as the Falken but offer better overall performance in comparative tests.
Price Range
You’ll find the Falken Eurowinter HS01 at low as $110 each in 16” sizes with 21” tires going for up to $250 each. Common 17 and 18” sizes are around the $165 mark. This puts the tire in the lower end of the mid-range value-wise.
You may also find occasional rebates, discounts, coupons, and special offers on this tire.
