Vredestein Wintrac Pro: Tire Review & Rating

Overview

The Vredestein Wintrac Pro tires are ultra-high performance winter tires that are made passenger cars according to the manufacturer. But they can be used for sports cars, performance sedans and SUVs. It replaces another winter tire by the same manufacturer, namely the Vredestein Wintrac Xtreme S.

The ultra-high performance compound used in manufacturing the Vredestein Wintrac Pro enables them to have better grip and stability in snowy or icy conditions.

The inward-facing directional tread curves concentrate on gathering the water or snow at the center and allows the water to be expelled from the tires. Although the tires are snow-rated, their performance is fantastic in wet conditions. The shoulder sipes allow better handling on your vehicle in snowy as well as wet conditions.

It’s essential to have better braking capabilities to avoid sliding or slipping on wet, icy roads. The Vredestein Wintrac Pro tires give you just that; they allow your car to break faster on damp and snowy roads due to the inward-facing directional tread design and angled center grooves.

The silica and resin-based ultra-high performance compound improve your vehicle’s handling capabilities, so you don’t have to worry about slipping and sliding in wet or snowy weather.

The Vredestein Wintrac Pro also has shoulder sipes that help grip the road during turns, so you get cornering stability as well. At high speeds, you can expect a comfortable ride that you can control better, thanks to the resin and silica-based tread compound used in the Vredestein Wintrac Pro. The road noise is also at a minimum so you get a quiet ride, too.

The Vredestein Wintrac Pro tire has been rated as a snow tire, and the manufacturers have concentrated entirely on optimizing grip and winter traction. Even in dry conditions, the braking capabilities do not falter, and neither does the grip.

Experts from the German publication Autobild featured the 245/45R18 trim of the Vredestein Wintrac Pro tires in a series of performance tests against nine other tires in the category, along with a reference summer timer. The tires included in the analysis were mid-range, premium and performance UHP winter tires.

The Vredestein had promising results that came forth from the tests. The tire received 1st place in wet handling, 2nd/3rd place in snow handling (there was a tie between two tires), 4th in snow braking and 5th in rolling resistance. Overall the Vredestein Wintrac Pro got the first position.

The Vredestein Wintrac Pro tires are available in several different sizes from 17” to 21”. Since they are premium winter tires, they can be a bit expensive, with prices starting from $130 going all the way to $340.
