Geo-Trac TI-500 Radial XLT Tire Review & Rating

The Geo-Trac TI-500 Radial XLT features an all-season tread design and optional load ratings of C, D and E for drivers of all types of SUV’s, pickups and crossovers. Manufactured by Nankang, the Geo-Trac line of tires are built to provide good performance at a lower price.

An all-season tread compound and non-directional tread pattern feature large shoulder blocks with deeper grooves for increased handling and grip on dry or wet road surfaces. They also enhance steering response and provide added feel in all driving conditions.

Four circumferential grooves evacuate water from under the footprint and reduce the risk of hydroplaning when the roads turn wet. Multiple sipes provide biting edges for further grip on wet or light snow covered pavement. A multi-variant tread block design lowers road noise and increases ride quality.

Inside the tire you will find steel belted construction for added strength and durability throughout the speed range. This also promotes more even tread wear. Geo-Trac includes both LT and P-Metric sizes on the TI-500, as well as speed ratings up to an S. There is a 40,000 mile tread guarantee on this tire.

Pros

  • Good all-around traction on dry, wet and light snow covered road surfaces
  • Comfortable ride and low road noise
  • Low cost

Cons

  • Tread life could be a bit longer

Overall Thoughts

The TI-500 drives very well on dry or wet pavement. Steering is responsive and crisp for an SUV tire and provides good feel. The ride is comfortable for a highway tire, and road noise is minimal. No, you won’t mistake this model for a higher quality Michelin Defender LTX M/S or General Grabber HTS60, but dry and wet traction is not bad.

We would like to see a longer treadlife, which is the biggest issue on this tire. To be fair though, the life of this tire is long enough to still make it a solid value. If you need to haul heavier loads you have optional load ranges to choose from.

Overall, this tire provides more than adequate performance and is a good choice for budget-minded drivers looking to save a little extra money on a set of new tires.
