Hankook Ventus ST RH06 Tire Review & Rating
The Hankook Ventus ST RH06 is engineered to deliver maximum traction and handling on all road surfaces for drivers of high performance SUV’s and light pickups. Just one look at this model and you can quickly see the RH06 has a high performance tread design that is built with the latest tire technology to set itself apart from the competition in this UHP all-season class.
An all-season silica enhanced tread compound and V-shaped tread design are made to increase traction and cornering performance on dry pavement. The tire’s jointless bead wire and high bead filler enhance stability and overall steering response and feel throughout the speed range. This is an area that many drivers have mentioned in reviews as being a real plus with this tire.
Noise reduction is another area that Hankook addresses with this model. They are the first tire maker to use DDPT, or Dual Depth Pitch Theory, on a passenger tire. We won’t go into a tech discussion over it, but DDPT is designed to dramatically lower tread noise through multiple sub pitch technology. Regardless of how you look at it, road noise is minimal on this tire compared to other tires in this class.
Inside the tire you will find two high-tensile steel belts with a jointless dual-cap ply for added strength and durability. They promote more even treadwear and enhance overall ride quality. A rim protector has been added on the RH06 to protect your wheels from accidental curb damage. You’ll find sizes available from 17-26 inches and a V or W-speed rating.
Pros
- Dry and wet traction and handling are very good
- Outstanding steering response and feel
- Quiet ride
- Tread life is above average
Cons
- Ride comfort
- Winter traction
Overall Thoughts
The ST RH06 provides a lot of performance for the money. We especially like the dry traction and cornering power this tire delivers. Steering is crisp and more responsive than many other models in this class. Wet handling is good, not great. The treadlife on this tire is very good as well.
Our only real knock on this particular tire, aside from its poor winter traction on snow and ice, is that we would like to see the ride be softened a bit. To be fair, it would definitely not deter us from running this tire but it’s something we want to mention.
Overall, this Hankook RH06 matches up favorably with the likes of other tires like the Kumho STX and Pirelli Asimmetrico. You can’t go wrong with this high performance tire. It easily ranks as one of the better models in this class.

Love this tire. Have had three sets on my 91 c1500 running the 275 60 r17. My truck is a little hot rod with 400 hp and the traction is great in dry or we weather. I find the snow traction be very good as well. I did have a set of nitto 420’s the did not like wet or snow. The Hankooks are the only tire i will run on my truck.
