Goodride SL309 A/S Tire Review & Rating

The Goodride SL309 A/S is the latest addition in their truck/SUV all-season tire lineup. Featuring a longer lasting tread life to go with its budget-friendly price, the SL309 is built for drivers of all types of pickups and larger SUV’s.

Goodride utilizes a stronger all-season tread compound that sports a reinforced sidewall construction for better puncture resistance. Dry traction and braking abilities are a strength for this tire and often mentioned by others as well in their reviews.

Goodride SL309 A/S Tire Review

Wide circumferential grooves and unique zig-zag grooves effectively channel away water for increased grip on wet pavement. Although decent, wet traction is only average for this model. The same can be said for traction in winter road conditions.

Inside the tire are dual steel belts with jointless nylon cap plies that add strength and durability to the tire, while also improving handling and stability throughout the speed range.

The Goodride SL309 AS is available in 15-18 LT and non-LT sizes. A limited tread warranty is also included.

Pros

  • Very good dry traction
  • Responsive handling
  • Dry and wet braking
  • Tread wear is good on this model

Cons

  • Boost in wet traction
  • Increase ride comfort and lower the road noise a bit

Overall Thoughts

For pickup owners looking for a tougher all-season highway tire that can handle heavier loads, the Goodride SL309 is a solid value-priced offering. Traction and handling on dry road surfaces is very good, and braking response is better than many in this class.

Where you might see a drop-off in performance is with wet traction. While it’s acceptable, it could be better, especially when driving at highway speeds. The other area that stood out to us is with ride comfort, and in particularly road noise. There’s a little more noise on this tire than with other similar models.

One area that Goodride appears to have done a very good job at is treadlife. Based on what we’ve heard from several drivers, treadlife is excellent.

Overall, the SL309, while unremarkable, delivers decent performance at a cost that is easier on the budget. If you’re looking for added performance you may want to check out other tires like the Michelin Defender LTX M/S, Cooper Discoverer HTP or Yokohama YK-HTX among others.
