Built to deliver higher performance, a more comfortable ride and longer treadlife, the Continental ControlContact Tour AS is an exclusive offering of Discount Tire. This model is designed for drivers of all types of coupes, sedans, crossovers and minivans.
Looking at the ControlContact Tour AS you can immediately notice the tread pattern is similar to the Continental TrueContact. Same design, same 800 UTQG rating, same warranty, etc. The only real difference we can find is that the Tour AS has a five rib pattern where the TrueContact has four.
The tires uses Continental’s unique tread compound that includes Tg-F Polymers and +Silane additives for enhanced traction and handling on all types of road surfaces, as well as a longer tread life. Full depth sipes around the tread combine with the compound to give this tire increased grip and reduced stopping distances on wet or snow covered pavement.
Continental adds what they call a comfort band around the tire that sits between the steel belts and the tread to absorb bumps and road shocks for a smoother and more comfortable ride. We have to say it does its job well. The ride is very comfortable on even some of the roughest roads.
Sizes are available ranging from 14-17 inches, and all come with a T-speed rating. This model is backed by a 90K mile tread warranty.

Overall Thoughts
Like the ControlContact Sport AS, this new Tour AS is an impressive tire in the Continental lineup. The performance and ride comfort is among the better tires in the touring all-season class, while the cost is lower than what you’ll find on most other top brands.
The only real issue we have with the tire would be traction in very deep snow. That said, how often do you really find yourself driving through 12 inches plus of snow every year?
We’ve heard from many other drivers that have stated how well they like the ControlContact Tour. It is a solid choice for cars, minivans and crossovers where good traction, comfort and treadlife are your main priorities. Overall, an excellent tire from Continental that is highly recommended.

Warranty
Continental provides a 90,000 mile tread warranty on the Control Contact Tour AS. Tire uniformity is guaranteed for one-year or the first 2/32 inch of wear.
Materials and workmanship are warranted for 6-years and include free replacement during the first year or first 2/32 inch of wear. A prorated amount is then given for the remaining time period or down to the final 2/32 inch of tread depth.

Bought two sets (minivan and matrix)… both treads were gone around 20k miles. what a crappy treadlife… move that to the cons section. The warranty is a sales tactic not a manufacturer standing behind their warranty.
I’m on my 2nd set on my 2017 kia Forte my first set was the true contact it was a good tire but didn’t last as long as they should’ve. My first set on the control contact tour a/s I loved them no complaints excellent dry and wet traction tire life was also excellent. As far as snow we’ll I’m in south Texas so we dont see snow here except for this past February and the tires did ok as far as traction goes it was 10 inches of snow we got here
I have a 2013 Toyota Camry 16″ base LE trim. Continental Control Contact Tour A/S Plus tires have serious quality issues. All the sidewalls cracked caused a blowout while I was driving. I’ve only been driven less than 30,000 miles on those tires with 80,000 miles warranty. The technician that looked at my car told me he doesn’t often seen a tire blowout so uniformly on the sidewalls that appears someone slicing a cake with different portions. He said those Continental tires had such a weak sidewalls that’s what caused the issues with mine. I will never buy another Continental tires again. They have serious quality control issues and could have caused another person serious injury while driving on defective tires. And manufacturing defeat only covered under 1 year. Do Not Buy from this brand!
I purchased a set of control contact tour A/S plus for my 2004 TSX yesterday and sadly they have worse traction capabilities than my old mostly worn out off-brand tires.
The discount tire sales associate led me to believe that these tires have great traction on dry roads, but that isn’t what I’ve experienced so far. Partial throttle acceleration out of parking lots result in spinning tires and the lift throttle oversteer is very pronounced. I would have happily paid more to get a higher performance tire even at the cost of reduced tread life. The car feels far less stable and responsive than it did with the old worn out cheap tires.
I have these on my 2016 WRX and they are just “ok”. They aren’t performance tires, and they’re not good in any kind of snow or ice. I liked the EXTREMECONTACT DWS better in every riding condition … except maybe longevity.
Amazing tires, I bought them in 2015 at 147,000 and now it is june 1st 2019 millage 220,157 tire just lost air i think a nail is in it and the wear indicator tells me to get new tires. almost 75,000 on these tires on my honda civic I never had flats any problems ever for all of these years until just a nail now so time to buy the exact same tires and enjoy peace of mind and safety while i drive while others buy cheap tires and are proud of it. you get what you pay for remember that…

I bought these for my Taurus SHO to replace a set of BF Goodrich tires that wore out in 20,000 miles.
The ride is good and they are quiet, but………., they are not in any way a performance tire as the salesman told me. Don’t buy these if you want a high performance AS tire. You will be disappointed.

worst tires I have ever had in trying to keep regulated with tire pressure. Cant wait till they wear
out which should be soon with always running low. Can drive for an hour or 60 miles until they come up to the 35 lbs they should be… otherwise I’m losing mileage everyday riding around on 32 and 33. Will never buy these tires. only reason I have them is they came on the volkswagon and jeep.
I took the salesman’s advice and got these Continentals for my Chrysler 300 and have to say I am very glad I did this is a great Tire I haven’t tested it in snow yet but I can tell on wet surfaces the traction is night and day from my previous tires.
