The Continental ContiPremiumContact 2 tire offers summer touring performance for drivers of all types of coupes, sedans and crossovers. It’s been OE on vehicles such as the Mini Cooper, Volkswagen GTI and several others, and features unique tread technology that is built to provide superior dry and wet traction.
An innovative tread compound and asymmetric tread pattern sport unique 3-D tread grooves that are designed to optimize dry and wet traction, as well as increase braking performance. They help the tire expel more water and reduce the risk of hydroplaning due to their shallow and steep tread angles. This is an area the tire excels in.
An added benefit to these 3-D grooves is that they enhance tread block stability for improved handling performance. Along with continuous lateral grooves and a greater number of tread blocks, the tire delivers more precise steering response and on-center feel. You’ll also find it contributes to a smooth and quiet ride as well.
Inside the tire are two steel belts with a nylon ply that add more strength to the tire and aid in providing more even treadwear. The ContiPremiumContact 2 is available in various 15-18 inch sizes, and comes with H or V-speed ratings.

Overall Thoughts
We have mixed feelings on this Continental summer touring tire. On one hand it delivers some of the best dry and wet traction you’ll find on a tire in this category. Reduced braking distance is one of its biggest strengths as well. Continental’s unique 3-D grooves do an excellent job. The ride is smooth and very quiet as you would expect.
On the other hand, by far the biggest issue with this tire is its poor treadlife. We’ve heard a number of drivers say they have had to replace the tires after 20-25K miles. Sure, with its 280 UTQG rating you wouldn’t expect to see 60K miles, but we feel treadlife should be better.
Overall, if you do not put an emphasis on a longer lasting treadlife, the ContiPremiumContact 2 is a very good summer touring tire that provides solid performance.

Warranty
Continental provides a limited tread warranty on the ContiPremiumContact 2. Tire uniformity is guaranteed for one-year or the first 2/32 inch of wear. Materials and workmanship are warranted for 6-years and include free replacement during the first year or first 2/32 inch of wear. A prorated amount is given for the remaining time or down to the final 2/32 inch of tread depth.
Also included is a one-year or first 2/32 inch road hazard warranty, 3-year flat tire changing service, as well as Continental’s 30-day customer satisfaction trial that allows you to exchange the tire if you are not completely satisfied.
