Uniroyal Tiger Paw Ice & Snow 3 Tire Review & Rating

Uniroyal has been a trusted name in tires for decades, and the Uniroyal Tiger Ice & Snow 3 is the company’s latest entry into their studdable winter tire line. Built for drivers of coupes, sedans, minivans and crossovers, the Ice & Snow 3 features the latest in winter tire technology.

A unique winter tread compound is engineered to remain flexible and adhere to the pavement in very cold temperatures. Uniroyal combines this compound with a directional tread pattern that features zig-zag sipes along with interlocking 3D shoulder sipes and wider lateral grooves around the tire that deliver reliable traction in snow, ice, slush and other winter conditions.

Uniroyal Tiger Paw Ice And Snow 3 Tire Review

Sporting the three-peak mountain/snowflake emblem, the Uniroyal Ice and Snow 3 is pinned to accept #12 studs for added grip on thicker ice, hard-pack and deep snow if you require increased traction.

The added silica in the tread compound along with the sipes around the tread give this model much improved grip on wet pavement, as well on slush and snow.

Patented DuraShield construction, dual steel belts and a two-ply polyester tire casing combine to provide a smoother ride quality with added comfort. Uniroyal offers a range of 14-19 inch sizes with a T-speed rating. A limited tread warranty is included on all sizes.

Pros

  • Dependable traction in snow, sleet, slush, ice and other harsh conditions
  • Smooth handling on dry and wet road surfaces
  • Treadlife
  • Lower cost provides good value

Cons

  • Stiffen the sidewalls a bit to enhance cornering stability

Overall Thoughts

Uniroyal is one of those brands that have been around forever it seems, but remains under the radar so to speak. The Tiger Paw Ice & Snow 3 looks to change that by providing excellent winter performance with its newest technology and lower value price.

Traction in all winter elements is solid. Be it cold rain, slush, snow, ice or hard-pack, this tire goes through it safely. The ride is comfortable for a winter tire, even on dry pavement, and treadlife appears to be good. This has been mentioned by other drivers as well. The biggest negative, for more spirited drivers that is, would be the softer sidewalls that flex more during harder cornering maneuvers.

Overall, the Tiger Paw Ice & Snow 3 rates among the better studdable winter tires, especially when you factor in the lower cost.

  1. What the hell kind of warranty is “Tire uniformity is guaranteed for one-year or the first 2/32 inch of wear.”

What, guaranteed that all four of my tires will still be ROUND after one year? Gee, thanks!

  2. They’re a decent tire. For some reason they are way too fragile. Last winter I had to replace both front tires after just one winter of use. This year, the two fronts gave out again along with one of the rears. Will never get this tire again or recommend it to anyone.

  3. Miya i see date of your post is May probably a little late removing winter tires , Anonymous has different compilate ie grip in certain conditions. i have sold and install many of these tiger paws and generally they work reasonably well, thing about these tires they are very inexpensive and many people buy price , must consider the type of driving and type of vehicle there going on . if u only buy price you will almost always be disappointed these tires work well when used and matched correctly

    1. Just wanted to say that I live at the top of Maine and it’s not unusual to have snow well into May. I’m sure this is not uncommon in the colder climates in North America. Also, thank you for your professional assessments.

  4. These are hands down the worst tires I have ever purchased in my entire life! I have had to replace all four of my tires twice now and I have only had them for two years. I am never purchasing these tires again and honestly feel like the maker of these tires should be sued because I am sure I am not the only person to have had this issue. Never, ever, ever buy these tires unles you constantly want to be broken down and paying for rows.

    1. Miya, maybe you’re just a shitty driver, just sayin’. You say “Never, ever, ever buy these tires unles(s) you constantly want to be broken down and paying for (t)ows.” Broken down? What do you mean exactly? Sounds like you’re driving a pile-of-shit car. Next time, you should consider putting the bong down before you write your review.

      1. I have to go with what Miya says. I have been driving for 45 years, and drive year round in all conditions. I am very experienced driving in Canadian winter conditions. I have never had a worse set of tires. I have had better traction and control from all-seasons. I have had to back down streets I’d hardly realized were hills because as soon as I hit any slope at all the tires start to spin. I drive a standard, and with these tires should expect to go up easily.
