Uniroyal Laredo Cross Country Tire Review & Rating

The Laredo Cross Country is the top selling all-season tire in Uniroyal’s truck/SUV lineup. Designed for drivers who seek all-season traction and longer treadwear for city and highway use, the Cross Country is built to deliver just that.

An all-season M+S tread compound utilizes Uniroyal TrU-Form construction technology that is created to increase durability and tire uniformity. It also equalizes the stress on the tire’s contact patch which provides for more even treadwear.

Uniroyal Laredo Cross Country Tire Review

The Cross Country’s open tread grooves and four circumferential grooves increase wet handling performance and reduces the risk of hydroplaning. It delivers the grip you need on wet roads. You can further expect good performance on light snow covered road surfaces as well, although deeper snow and ice is not what this tire was designed for.

Inside the tire you will find twin steel belts and DuraShield construction that combine to offer added durability and strength throughout the speed range. This Uniroyal model will also go off-road, but only in very light terrain due to its highway tread construction. The tire is offered in 15-17 inch sizes and has an optional E load range size for those needing extra capacity. You will also receive a 50,000 mile tread guarantee.

Pros

  • Dry and wet traction are above average
  • Smooth, comfortable ride without a lot of road noise
  • Tread life is excellent

Cons

  • Would like to see just a little more winter traction

Overall Thoughts

Uniroyal has been around for a long time, so when you see the Laredo Cross Country being the best-selling truck/SUV tire in their history, it gets your attention. This model doesn’t disappoint for the most part. Traction on dry or wet pavement is very good. Winter weather traction is ok in lighter amounts of snow, but it’s not really designed for heavier amounts of snow or ice. That said, it still provides adequate performance.

Expect to find a smooth and more comfortable ride. We’re pleased that this Uniroyal tire doesn’t have a lot of distracting road noise. Perhaps best of all is the longer tread life this tire offers. Many drivers have mentioned getting better treadwear than they expected. Overall, we rank this model in the middle of its class for highway all-season tires. Although it is definitely a solid offering that holds its own, other top models like the newer Michelin Defender LTX M/S, General Grabber HTS60 and a few others, are among better options.
