Toyo Versado Noir Tire Review & Rating

The Toyo Versado Noir is the company’s latest touring all-season tire that is designed to deliver a comfortable ride, dependable traction and a longer lasting treadlife. Built for drivers of premium coupes, sedans, minivans and crossovers, the Versado Noir is also a fuel efficient tire that should save you a little extra at the pump.

A silica tread compound is optimized for both added grip on dry or wet road surfaces as well as added fuel efficiency. The tire’s asymmetric tread pattern and wider lateral grooves provide increased cornering grip and improved handling throughout the speed range, something this tire does quite well.

Wide circumferential grooves and multi-wave sipes around the tread aid in evacuating water away from the tire for added traction on wet pavement. These sipes further help in providing biting edges for driving on snow and ice, although deep snow and thicker ice can cause issues with braking and acceleration.

Toyo has used what they term SilentWall technology to help in reducing unwanted outside road noise. We’ve heard several drivers speak to the lower road noise in their reviews of this tire.

Inside the tire are two steel belts with a polyester cord body that add strength and durability. Toyo claims this model sports a 30 percent longer treadlife than other leading competitor tires. Sizes are available ranging from 15-18 inches, and all sizes come with either an H, V or W-speed rating. Toyo backs the Versado Noir with up to a 75K mile tread warranty.

Pros

  • Very good dry and wet traction
  • Comfortable and quiet ride
  • Solid handling and cornering
  • Value priced

Cons

  • Winter traction on ice
  • Increase the treadlife

Overall Thoughts

Although Toyo claims the Versado Noir is a premium touring all-season tire that stands above the rest, we don’t see that it does. Yes, it definitely offers solid traction on dry and wet pavement, the ride is comfortable for the most part, and the tire does add to fuel efficiency. However, it’s far from the ultimate tire that stands far above the competition.

Traction on hard-packed ice, deep snow and other harsh winter elements is not a strength for this tire. Braking and acceleration is noticeably below some other top models like the Nokian Entyre 2.0, Continental TrueContact and others. In addition, we’ve heard a few complaints on lower than expected treadlife. To be fair, we’ve also heard some who praised the treadwear.

Overall, we give the Versado Noir a rating in the middle to upper half of the class.

  1. Terrible on ice and hard packed snow. I live in Vermont and for years I have run all season tires in early winter until switching out to snow tires in early to mid December. I drive Volvo XC70 wagons which are awd and I admit snow tires are ideal, I have never had a problem with all season tires until these Toyos. They basically perform like a summer tire not an all season. I ended up in the ditch. If you live in a snowy climate and aren’t always super prompt about getting your snow tires installed, do not count on these tires to get you where you are going!

    1. Hi
Our review of the Toyo Versado does mention that its performance suffers on ice and snow. Thank you for providing more information that backs our claim.

    2. I just put a set of 245/50R18’s on my Infiniti M37 and for the most parts they ride good, but I had to avoid another car the day they were put on my car and I was surprised at the about of body roll there was. To be fair the previous set were run flats so that is not a good comparison. I am still not happy with that amount of body roll.
