Toyo Extensa HP II Tire Review & Rating
The new in 2017 Toyo Extensa HP II is the company’s latest high performance all-season tire that is aimed at budget-minded drivers looking to up the performance levels of their coupe, sedan or minivan.
While the original Extensa HP has been a popular model for Toyo since 2009, this new generation is engineered to increase all-around performance, especially wet traction and braking.
Toyo uses a silica-based all-season tread compound that is matched up with a directional tread pattern for improved dry and wet traction. This new compound and tread pattern helps the Extensa HP II brake up to 31 feet shorter than the original tire according to Toyo.
The added silica and full-depth multi-wave sipes around the tread provided enhanced grip and a reduced risk of hydroplaning on wet pavement. It further helps maintain traction on light snow-covered road surfaces as well.
Toyo offers a wide range of 15-20 inch sizes in the HP II, with speed ratings of V or W. All sizes come backed with Toyo’s 45K mile tread warranty.

Overall Thoughts
The new Toyo Extensa HP II is a welcome addition to their HP all-season lineup. It performs very well overall, especially on wet streets. Wet traction and braking was a major concern with the older Extensa, however, Toyo has addressed this area on the HP II.
In addition to its increased traction, the steering is responsive and provides good feel. Cornering stability is very good, and this tire is not as noisy as many value-priced tires in this class.
One concern we have with this new tire is its ride comfort over potholes and rough pavement. They could be softened just a bit. Winter traction is ok in a couple of inches of snow, but like most all-season tires, heavier amounts of snow and ice may be problematic.
Overall, Toyo has built a good HP tire in the Extensa HP II. While arguably not up to a Michelin Pilot Sport AS3 Plus or Pirelli P Zero AS Plus among other top UHP tires, this model sports a lower cost that makes it a good option for drivers looking to save money.

Warranty
Toyo provides a 45,000 mile tread warranty on the Extensa HP II. Tire uniformity is guaranteed for the first 1/32 inch of wear.
Materials and workmanship are warranted for 5 years and include free replacement for the first 25% of wear. A prorated amount is given for the remaining time period or down to the final 2/32 inch of tread depth.
Toyo also includes their No Regrets 45-day, 500-mile trial guarantee. If you are not completely satisfied with the tires you may refund or replace them with another model.
