What Does The S Speed Rating Mean?
Speed rating systems were developed to help gauge the performance of tire up to specific speeds. The ratings signify the fastest speed the tire can handle before it stops performing the way it should. S rated tires are good till 112 mph, and T rated tires are good for 118 mph before they get difficult to handle.
Do High-Performance Tires Wear Out Faster?
Although high-performance tires lock into a kiss with the road (they grip wonderfully, especially dry pavement, they dissipate heat better and corner well, too. But they can wear out faster for the same reason. They tend to have a higher rolling resistance and are used on high performing sports cars. They can also be more expensive to replace.
How Long Do High-Performance Tires Last?
The better handling, cornering grip, and a greater heat resistance of high-performance tires come at a cost, as mentioned. They wear out faster. Depending on how you drive your vehicle, among other factors, high-performance tires can last as little as 20,000 miles whereas the life of an average tire is around 40,000 miles. You may also need to change them if you move to a different climate.
Why Did My New Car’s Tires Wear Out So Fast?
The original equipment manufacturer (OEM) tires are made of softer rubber that wears down quickly. You cannot and should not get the same pair of tires that came with your new car. I too am researching Michelin Vs Bridgestone Turanza QT tires. Costco has a sale going on the Turanza’s and my preliminary research has the Turanza Qt tire with 80000 mile warr and seems like a really quiet tire! I’m still researching but I’m leaning towards the Bridgestone tires.

I have a 2017 Toyota Highlander in NY (North of NYC) that drives mostly highways and local roads. I currently have Michelin Latitude tires and they have lasted for 47K miles. I need to replace them and wondering if I should switch to BFG Advantage, Pirelli Scorpions or Continental Cross Contact LX20 tires, as they all seem to be cheaper but rated similarly. I own a 2014 Toyota Camry LE and my tires are needing to be replaced. OEM tires are Michelin Energy savers 205/65R16, I got 51,000 miles on them. I get great mileage on these tires but boy are they expensive. I am leaning towards the Michelin Defender series and the Yokohama Avid Ascend. I really desire a tire that is quiet but not so soft that my mileage goes south. Any suggestions?

After weighing the pros and cons of both the tires, I can say both have the same quality and slightly poor winter handling, perfect for a low budget and small sized SUVs. Sentury offers sizes 16-18 inches, with H and V speed rating while Nankang sizes range from 14-20 inches, with H, V, W or Y-speed rating. Maybe this information will help in making a decision.

The 2012 Acura RDX isn’t a testing vehicle used to test either of these tires and as such we cant say which of the 10 tires featured in the list would be the ideal choice. Each of the 10 touring tires perform capably and you couldn’t go wrong with any of the designs from this list.

All cons are poor performances in the snow. What is a good all-season tire for Wisconsin weather? Driving in Snow, Dry and wet. Loved the assurance weather ready tire on my Honda CRV. Looking to put tires on a 2014 Buick Encore, which is a 215/55R18. Goodyear don’t make the weather ready in that size. Need a good tire from Good year due to great sales going on right now. Looked at Cooper C5 but you say they are not good. HELP!

We’d recommend you go for the Pirelli Cinturato P7 All Season Plus. These tires are available in the size you’re looking for. Though deep snow traction could be improved. This is a great all-season model that rides well on light snow and ice surfaces.
