Ohtsu FP6000 A/S Tire Review & Rating

The FP6000 A/S from Ohtsu Tire is designed to deliver year round traction and handling at a budget-friendly price point. Built for coupes, sedans and minivans, the FP6000 is available in various 14-16 inch sizes along with speed ratings of H and V.

A silica-enhanced tread compound and what Ohtsu terms a next generation directional tread design, is made to give this model an extended tread life and better overall performance on wet or dry road surfaces. Dual circumferential center ribs increase steering response and provide increased stability when driving at higher speeds. It also helps the tire deliver improved brake performance. 

The tire’s directional tread pattern and 5 circumferential grooves work together to evacuate water from under the tread in wet conditions. It reduces the risk of hydroplaning and increases traction.

Ride comfort is addressed through variable shoulder blocks which help reduce excessive road noise and give a more smoother ride quality. Inside the tire you’ll find two steel belted construction for added strength and durability.

Overall Thoughts

As a low cost option in new tires, the FP6000 AS is really a very good choice. It fills a big need for many drivers who are looking for a tire to get them to and from work and around town. It has the basic traction and handling you need, and the ride is not at all uncomfortable.

That said, you won’t mistake this model for a more expensive Michelin, Continental or other major brand name tire, but that’s not what this tire is built for. The bottom line here is that if saving a lot of money and having a dependable daily driving tire is what you are after, the FP6000 is up to the task. Highly recommended.
