Thunderer Trac Grip Mud Tire

Overview

Thunderer is a tire brand that produces a line of all-terrain, all-season, mud terrain, high way touring, performance tires and more. Specially designed for North American drivers, these tires are manufactured in ultra-modern facilities located in Thailand.

The Thunderer Trac Grip Mud tire is yet another quality offering from the manufacturer that is designed for SUVs and light trucks. This all-season tire provides superior traction in various weather conditions – especially in the winters.

The asymmetric tread pattern enhances this tire’s capabilities while driving in wet and dry conditions. For instance, it reduces the risk of aquaplaning when cruising on slippery surfaces while also providing excellent traction on dry surfaces.

Additionally, the wide-open tread block design provides incredible grip while the tread pattern efficiently evacuates water and slush from underneath the tire’s contact patch for improved wet traction and safety.

The wide grooves are enhanced to provide excellent traction in mud and other off-roading conditions as they enable the tire to perform equally well on soft and uneven surfaces.  The ability to perform well on all these surfaces also comes from the self-cleaning aspect of the tread design that allows proper evacuation of mud, snow and sand – it even helps eject debris like rocks from the tread.

This tire’s off-roading capabilities are further improved with a durable sidewall design and safety features such as damage and chip protection. This guards the tire from getting cut or bruised when it comes in contact with sharp rocks, gravel roads and other off-road conditions. The result of this is a better, more versatile tire fit for vehicles that perform both on and off-road.

Lastly, the tire is extremely durable because of its 10 ply rating that improves its handling while carrying heavy loads. The strong internal structure also helps prevent deformity and enables the tire to maintain its optimal shape.

The Thunderer Trac Grip Mud Terrain tire comes with a speed rating of Q (160 km/h) and it is available in rim sizes starting from 15” to 22”.

  1. I bought a set of 285/75 16s for my ‘99 super duty, and even though I haven’t tried them off road I can tell you that on road they borderline dangerous. I’ve aired them up pretty hard (55psi front/70psi rear) and it helps, but as soon as I go over a bridge the truck tries to leave the road. And driving in the rain is scary as well, these tires hydroplane constantly. I’ll definitely go with a different tire next time.
