Starfire SF340 Tire Review & Rating

The Starfire SF340 is built as a budget-friendly tire for all types of coupes, sedans, smaller SUV’s and light trucks. A computer-designed tread pattern provides all-season traction and handling while maintaining a longer lasting treadlife.

The Starfire SF 340 uses deeper lateral shoulder slots to increase dry traction, and a solid center rib for enhanced steering response and better on-center feel at higher speeds on the highway.

Starfire SF340 Tire Review

Traction on wet pavement is increased through the tire’s circumferential grooves and angled sipes around the tread. They work together to channel away water and slush, as well as reduce the risk of hydroplaning.

Ride comfort is addressed through a variable pitch tread sequence that is designed to lower the road noise and add additional comfort. It works well for the most part although you may find a little more noise as the tire starts wearing down.

Inside the tread are dual steel belts that add strength and durability. You’ll find a variety of 13-17 inch sizes available that come with S and T speed ratings. The SF340 has a 440 UTQG rating and comes with a limited tread warranty.

Pros

  • Dependable dry and wet traction
  • Good treadwear
  • Low cost tire

Cons

  • A little extra road noise as tires begin wearing down
  • Winter performance

Overall Thoughts

The Starfire SF 340 is especially appealing to tire buyers on a very tight budget who would like a tire that delivers dependable traction without all the bells and whistles. That’s the niche for this model. It doesn’t provide the kind of performance you’ll find on Michelin, Continental and other top tire brands, but if basic commuting needs is all you’re looking for, the SF340 can help.

  1. These Starfire SF340 tires are good on wet, light snow and dry roads but with most All-Season tires are bad on Heavier snow and on Ice. Not a bad tire for most spring-fall roads.
