Sentury Touring Tire Review & Rating

The Sentury Touring all-season tire combines dependable everyday dry and wet traction with added ride comfort for drivers of all types of coupes, sedans and minivans. Offered exclusively through Discount Tire, the Sentury Touring also features a low-price that is particularly appealing to budget-minded drivers.

Sentury uses an advanced all-season tread compound that combines with a 5-rib tread pattern for enhanced dry and wet traction. A grooved continuous center rib is designed to increase handling, cornering and braking performance, which is a plus for this model.

Sentury Touring Tire Review

The tread design features a computer optimized pitch tread sequence that helps in reducing unwanted outside road noise for a quiet ride.

A 500 UTQG rating means this tire should be good for 40-50K miles. Sentury warrants this model for 40K miles, which from early indications, seems to be about right. We’ve heard other drivers mention good treadlife in reviews as well.

Sentury Touring models are offered in a range of 14-18 inch sizes, and all sizes sport either a T or H-speed rating.

Pros

  • Confident dry/wet traction
  • Good handling and cornering stability
  • Value-priced to fit any budget

Cons

  • Winter traction and handling

Overall Thoughts

The Sentury Touring is a value-based entry-level tire that is ideal for everyday driving situations, whether it be running around town or driving to and from work. It’s a no-frills basic touring all-season model that is designed to save you a substantial amount of money as well.

Expect to find good overall traction and handling in dry or wet conditions. Handling and steering are crisp and responsive for the most part, and treadwear has currently shown to be better than many in this class.

Winter traction/braking and acceleration could be improved on, but this is an all-season tire though. You can expect possible issues in deeper snow, ice and hard-pack.

Overall, for an entry-level tire that is priced this low, the Sentury Touring is a solid choice.

  1. I Totally Love My Sentury Touring 16’s I just recently replaced my ford rangers basic 14’s….I also got new rims, and it looks so sweet!
Thanks to the best at America’s Tire in Riverbank.

  2. 4 Sentury tires on a Kia Rondo. At 3 years & 25,000 miles tread started to separate ( bubbled up) on 1 tire. A 2nd. tire constantly went out of balance (it started at about 9,000 miles)
Took both tires off the front with plenty of tread left, and replaced them with 2 Goodyear’s.
My tires were never abused, beaten up or subjected to anything unusual. After 54 years of driving and working on cars I can’t remember tires giving me this much trouble.

  3. My 2000 Taurus Wagon I just bought had good tires with a lot of tread, but pulled hard to the left upon braking. I knew it would be alignment or front end parts for 21 year old car. Started with four of these tires and headed to the alignment shop. Had to turn around because it stopped straight and perfect. No more pulling when stopping or driving. Still just a few months old but for under $400 out the door is unheard of. Thank you .

  4. Hello all. Just wanted to make a short comment about how to write an informative and well thought out review for those that do not take the time to do so. We all fall into emotional states, but when we do, logic and true thought can go out the window. One negative or positive review can affect potentially millions of people. Also it adds to confusion if not done Honestly with explaining everything relating to review. Few of us are experts about the products we buy so please consider this.
I have one used Sentury tire I bought of this type. I do not know it’s longevity or performance being I’ve had it on car only a few days. One used tire (with 90% tread left) cannot be tested being I don’t know mathematically all the angles of my slightly or modestly worn suspension without all 4 being replaced (all brand new) and a tested brand new car that exactly meets factory specs. If you don’t Really know about a product just tell people that in review. Then it will let them know that your suggestion about it might be valid and allows them to carry on with other review viewing. As I write this to you, I also write it to myself to remember these things. I fall into the same hasty ’emotional garbage’ words many times. This is just a reminder from someone who spent time to analyze why I did so. Best of life’s learning journey to all of you!

  5. …with 9600 miles behind my 2005 Nissan Sentra, my tires are W A S T E D. so much for the 40,000 mile goal Definitely will not wear SENTURY on any of my other 6 vehicles.

  6. Just replaced our tires on 2014 VW Passat and they handle smooth, quiet, and responsive to the road. I’m pleased with the profile look on the car and the overall handling.

  7. I have these tires on my Honda Odyssey van with a ramp on the right side. I couldn’t be happier. On the freeway they are quiet and track perfectly. Around town the potholes are generally soaked up and we have lots of them in Tucson. I don’t remember the name of the original tires but this is my third set and I am glad to recommend them .

  8. I added the Sentury UHP tires on my Audi A4 and they’ve been great. As quiet as this car will get and the handling feels very confident. I liked them so much, we added them on our Toyota Camry, replacing the original Michelin tires, the feel and noise level is almost identical.

  9. I just recently bought a tire for my 2006 Honda accord hybrid and they work fine. No noise at all. I hear nothing while driving. Driving a ford focus and hearing noise, yeah you got some issues with the rotors or something. A brand new tire on and makes noise over a radio doesnt make any sense. But i love these tires, and they are great for the price.

  10. We have these on my daughter’s Subaru and just put a set on my Son’s Passat. Tires are a good quality A/S tire with good ride and average noise levels. Wear has been acceptable thus far. Good value priced tire. I can’t speak to winter driving as we put winter tires on from December to April.

  11. I just bought a set of Sentury tires for my 1994 Miata MX-5. I couldn’t be happier. The ride is smooth and quiet. Wow! What a great improvement! Excellent tire for the cost ($36 per tire @ Discount tires). I greatly recommend these tires even if you’re not on a budget.

  12. I am considering purchasing these tires. What is all this talk about noise? What type of noise is it? What does it sound like? I have no reference to what you are referring to.

    1. Hey Chris, I didn’t come across any issues with noise during my research. I’m still waiting on customers to share more details.

  13. Its my 3rd set of sentury and this week im getting a new set for my prius. My 4th set. I keep buying it because i had a very good expirience with it. For the tire noise its pretty quiet. I had yokohama that came with the prius from factory and the difference is not noticeable. Good grip on wet and dry. One thing i noticed after 3 sets of tire is when youre at less than 4/32, thats when i start hearing the noise. But still not that bad.

  14. I have these tires on my VW Passat. They perform well and the noise level is not an issue. They are as quiet as the Hankook’s that were OEM

    1. Hi
Thank you for sharing your experience and describing how you felt that they are similar to another brand. We believe this is valuable information to other members of our community that might be considering the Sentury Touring as their next purchase.

    2. I had a set of these on my 2011 Volkswagen Jetta wagon they were awesome I didn’t have a chance to where I’m out because I was in an accident and when I had to hit the brakes these tires stopped really good and I think helped save my life then I bought another set for my 2007 mercury grand marquis because of the really good reliability that I had on my previous car haven’t had these on my mercury very long but I really like them and I really like the price these tires are priced excellent for those that are on a budget and I’m on a really low budget and my mercury has two 2560 R 16‘s on them and I really so far like my second set for the price they are excellent for what you get if my second set does me like my first set then when it comes time to replace these I will buy them again

  15. Exactly I work for Toyota and put on 1000’s of tires a month. The noise can’t be loud as the radio. Any noise line that has to come from a bearing or a rim. Sentury are actually a good tire and a great tire for the $

  16. I put 4 new sentury touring tires on my Corolla 2 months ago. They are 40,000 mile tires but after 2,000 miles the belts in 2 of the tires busted causing both tires to blow 3 days apart. I would never buy these tires again!

  17. Bought a set of Sentury Touring tires for my 2011 Crown Vic about 4 months ago. Had Goodyear’s on before them. I have been very please with them. They handle well, I haven’t noticed the noise as the previous person noted, I haven’t noticed the rough ride (people comment on how comfortable the ride in my car is, but the reason may be that it is a Crown Vic). I’d honestly buy them again.

  18. I am interested in any and all testimonials regarding your personal experience and results pertaining to the Sentury touring tire. Thanks…

    1. I put a set of Sentury Touring tires on my 2017 Chevy Cruze just this week, replacing the Goodyear Assurance Fuel Max that came with the car.
The Sentury tires are noisier. They ride rougher. They are surprisingly responsive and feel much better than the Goodyears. According to Consumer Reports they have better stopping in wet an dry conditions than the best Continental tires I was considering (that cost 3x as much.) I can believe it from the feel, even though I don’t plan on testing the tires.
Overall, I’m very happy with them. I paid only $41.00 per tire, and they weren’t even on sale. The Continentals Extreme Contact DWS were $127, and the Sentury tires have better hydroplaning performance and stop better.

      1. Can you please share with us where you got the tires for $41.00? I would like to get these tires and the cheapest I’m seeing is $58.00, but they will price match. Thank you!

  19. Had a set on a 02 Maxima, never had to rotate as tread never went down, just put a set on my 04 CTS and like them , great price n great tire.

    1. I have done alot of research on this Sentury touring tire!
I am seriously considering this tire for my car! Sentury is becoming a good, quality brand as they manufacture tires in a 4.0 Smart Tire Production facility! They are building a plant in LaGrange, Ga..

      1. I bought these tires 7 months ago the road noise is obnoxious and it gets worse and worse as each month goes by. when I take calls in my car no one can hear me through my Bluetooth because the noise is so loud. these are the worst tires I’ve ever bought I can hear the road noise over my radio which I play pretty loud. I’m in a Ford Focus and I sound like I’m in a huge dump truck the road noise is that bad. if you’re looking for quiet tires these are not the ones to pick.

        1. If the tires are so loud take them back to Discount Tire for adjustment? Perhaps you have a tire wheelbearing issue? Generally speaking Sentury makes good quality tires!

        2. I’m sure the tires are THAT noisy …. a bit of a lie there, huh?
Some people just love to complain.
How can these tires be louder than your radio? Are you driving a vehicle with no windows.. or a jeep without doors. Please stop being so dramatic.
