Sentury UHP Tire Review & Rating
New for 2015, the Sentury UHP is a budget-priced ultra-high performance summer touring tire that is currently offered exclusively through Discount Tire. Built for all types of sport coupes and sedans, the UHP includes a number of features to enhance performance, reliability and treadlife.
An advanced tread compound is built not only for higher performance, but Sentury created it with a lower rolling resistance for increased fuel efficiency. The tread pattern sports a continuous center rib and larger outer shoulder blocks that add to handling stability, cornering grip and steering response, which are a plus for this tire.
Four deep circumferential grooves and the tire’s lateral grooves effectively channel away water when driving on wet pavement and reduce the risk of hydroplaning. The UHP is not built for driving in winter weather, so keep that in mind if you live in a colder climate that sees any snow and ice.
Sentury has increased ride comfort and lowered outside road noise by using an optimized tread pitch and a variable tread block design on this model. This is another plus for this tire as it does work well in delivering a quiet ride.
You’ll find a wide range of 15-20 inch sizes available in the UHP, and all sizes come with a V or W-speed rating. There is also a 40K mile tread warranty included as well.

Overall Thoughts
The Sentury UHP fills a very large need in the touring performance tire category. The very low price on this tire makes it a great option for anyone on a tight budget that can’t afford better performing tires from the likes of Continental, Michelin and others.
Expect to find very good dry traction, braking and handling response on this tire. The stiffer sidewalls help with cornering grip, and the center rib adds more stability and quickens steering response. Of course, the added handling and cornering performance come at the expense of ride comfort, but this isn’t designed as a luxury road touring tire. Road noise is noticeable, but we’ve also heard numerous user reviews speak of the opposite and say how quiet the ride is for a value based tire. It may or may not be an issue for you.
We definitely would like to see a bump up in wet traction. It holds its own, but more spirited drivers may find it doesn’t provide the type of grip you find in other top performing tires. In heavy rain you just need to go a bit easier than you might like. Treadlife is an unknown at this stage, but we will update our review as time goes by when we know more.
Overall, the UHP from Sentury is a nice choice in an entry-level budget tire. The price is among the lowest you’ll find in this class, and certainly among the lowest for the type of performance it provides. While not ranking up there with the bigger name models currently on the market, the UHP does its job well.

I believe these folk saying that these tires have no road noise are used to driving with their stereos blasting or they have no automotive knowledge at all. Just that they have new cheap tires on their car and that’s what they required. I was always told, you get what you pay for even in your vehicle purchase. Someone driving a BMW says these are good tires… No offense WHAT BMW are you driving, the cheapest one they make no options? I have these thing on my car by so called courtesy of a Hyundai dealer as a preowned fixed to bad tires on a 2015 Genesis Sedan. These by far are the worse tires I’ve ever endured on a vehicle. there is a feeling of hydroplaning on dry surface with these tire, they’re not stable at speeds above 60mph and the ROAD NOISE is sickening at times, ift you don’t have your stereo cancelling it out! SO these are by far the worse, to all you amateurs quoting great tire, By another NAME brand tire Continetals, Michelins and really get your money worth!
I’ve used Sentury tires on a previous car and was happy enough with them so decided to try these on my Mazda 3s which uses low profile tires on 18″ wheels. I came from Pirelli P-Zero A/S which were fine, but did not impress me especially, and wore out quickly. First off when they pulled up the car I was impressed by the look of these cheap tires – not bad for cheapos. I’ve since driven about 100 miles and quite frankly I’m impressed. I’m guessing you lose some traction at the limits but i’ll never know – I enjoy driving but i don’t push the car to its handling limits on public roads – but really I have nothing bad to say about these tires. They are at least as quiet, probably more, than what I had previously, and the car feels even more planted (to be fair, they are 10mm wider than the stock size). The Sentury tires I used on another car did not wear prematurely, so we’ll see on these. If they hold up, i’ll be converted to thebrand for every purchase unless I get that Porsche one day….
I put these on my 2006 BMW 330i (with 185,000 miles) and 535i (with 114,000 miles) I wanted a good budget tire where the tires weren’t a big % of the remaining car value
The handling is great. Road noise is low on smooth roads. on the grooved sections of freeways in CA, there is some noise. Wet traction is good as is the ride. As they wear, the ride gets a bit harsher. I have pt 10,000 miles on them and the tread is still pronounced.
These cost 1/3 of what a set of Michelins or Contis would cost. Great value and a solid product.
I don’t see how some of these people say they don’t have road noise with these tires, I drove away with brand new tires and it sounded like I had off road tires put on. I’ll never get these tires again. I’ve only put about 3-4 k miles on them so far, so I can’t really tell about mileage yet but they are extremely loud.

I bought these tires and I love them. No road noise very smooth ride on my 2014 FORD Focus.
If your looking for an affordable tire I would recommend them.

Came with my 2001 Audi A6, great tire on dry pavement, need to back off in the rain, no go in the snow
I put two of these on my ’97 Passat with two Yokohama S.Drives. The S.Drives have about 2/3 the treadwear rating of the UHPs but I was getting 20k from the S.Drives where the UHPs were gone in 15K. That was treadwear not damage. In my case thats 0.46 cents per mile for the S.Drives & 0.39 cents for the UHP.
Traction is a little better with the UHP. The S.Drive starts squealing in to corner just before the UHPs would.
Road noise was not an issue.
I did not notice any difference in wet traction between the two but really didnt pay much attention.
Loud humming!! Horrible. I didn’t last 2 weeks with them. Couldn’t get past the road noise to even consider the ride. I have a 2004 Acura TSX. Have never had road noise on any of my discount tired

The tire could be little too hard riding for some people. But if you like performance. I would recommend this tire.
Drove about 5 month. Tread life is still good. Currently driving a 2014 Honda Civic Si.
