Pirelli Scorpion Zero Tire Review & Rating
The Pirelli Scorpion Zero is Pirelli’s answer to drivers wanting the performance of the P-Zero in a tire built exclusively for SUV’s and pickup trucks. This street/sport truck tire features an attractive tread design to go with performance all-season traction and a comfortable ride quality.
A high-performance tread compound that is also M+S rated, combines with a unique Zor double Z tread pattern (depending on size selected) that is engineered to provide increased dry and wet traction. These tread blocks enhance steering response and braking capabilities, while also giving the tire added cornering power.
Wide circumferential grooves and unique lateral grooves quickly channel away water from the contact patch to enhance traction on wet roads and reduce the risk of hydroplaning.
Inside the tire you will find two steel belts that are nylon reinforced for added strength and stability at higher speeds. A polyester cord body increases ride comfort and promotes more even treadwear. This Pirelli tire comes with either an H or V-speed rating. A limited tread warranty is also included.
Pros
- Dry traction and cornering grip are outstanding
- Above average wet and winter handling
- Steering is quick and responsive
- Comfortable ride quality
Cons
- Increased noise levels as tire begins wearing down
- Treadlife could be better
Overall Thoughts
The Scorpion Zero tread design is pretty cool to look at, and the performance on dry road surfaces is excellent. This tire provides solid control and stability at all speeds. It grips the corners very well for a sport truck tire, providing some fun around town for sure.
On the other hand, there are a few issues with the tire that prevent it from being great. Noise is more pronounced on this model than it should be. Other drivers have mentioned this in their reviews and ratings as well. It’s fine until the tread begins to wear down, which is when it gets louder. Of course, that can be said about most tires.
Overall we like the performance and the comfortable ride. It makes a very good choice in sport truck/SUV tires if you don’t mind a little extra road noise.
