Nokian Tyres Set To Release 3 New Models

March 2013 – While most of us are just trying to get through the end of this winter, Nokian is already planning for the next one. The company has recently announced the addition of three new models that are scheduled to debut this coming winter.

All three tires feature a silica-based lower rolling resistant tread compound to go with enhanced snow and ice traction. Here’s a quick look at each of these new models.

Hakkapeliitta R2 – This new tire is set to replace the original Hakkapeliitta R. It is designed as a non-studded winter tire with a symmetrical tread pattern and dense siping at various angles around the shoulders.

What’s unique about the tread compound is the addition of new technology the company calls Cyro Crystal Concept, which includes sharp particles for added grip. Just what these particles are made of is not being released at the moment.

The new Hakkapeliitta R2 will be available in 55 R-rated sizes ranging from 13-20 inches, including XL and run-flat options.

Hakkapeliitta R2 SUV – As the name implies, this model is engineered for SUV’s and crossovers. Again, it is a non-studded design that features stronger steel belts and a stiffer center rib. This model will be available in 38 R-rated sizes ranging from 15-19 inches. XL and run-flat options will also be included in the lineup.

WR G3 – This high-performance winter tire will be available in both a directional and asymmetric tread pattern. Both styles feature increased slush and aquaplaning abilities, as well as enhanced stability and ride comfort. 25 XL asymmetric sizes will be available in 16-18 inches, and 6 directional models ranging from 14-15 inches.

We will provide more detailed reviews on each of these tires once they are released.
