Nitto NT850 Plus Tire Review & Rating
Sporting the latest in tire technology and a new lower rolling resistance tread compound, the Nitto NT850 Plus is aimed at drivers of performance and luxury coupes, sedans and minivans. The new all-season design is built to deliver dependable year-round traction to go with a more comfortable ride quality.
The new state-of-the-art all season tread compound is said to reduce rolling resistance by 11 percent compared to the original NT850 tire. Naturally, the lower energy required means an increase in gas mileage and savings on fuel over time.
Interlocking tread blocks and the tire’s continuous center rib increase dry traction and cornering grip, while also providing a quicker steering response.
Larger circumferential grooves and multiwave 3D sipes around the tread enhance wet traction by evacuating water from under the tire and providing added bite on wet or snow covered road surfaces. Not only is performance increased, but you feel more confident driving in adverse weather and road conditions.
Nitto has used their Quiet Serration Technology to reduce outside road noise by breaking up repetitive tire noise. It works similar to the acoustics you find in a recording studio, and it works very well on this tire.
Inside the tire you’ll find two steel belts and a polyester cord body for added strength and durability. Sizes are available from 16-18 inches, and the tire is offered with either a V or W-speed rating. A 50,000 mile tread warranty is also provided.

Overall Thoughts
The NT850+ is another good quality tire from Nitto. We like the excellent traction and cornering on dry roads, as well as the quick braking and acceleration. Although cornering grip is not quite as good as an ultra-high performance tire, it is still very good. Wet traction is also good, and we were impressed with the handling in light snow as well, especially for an all-season tire. Nitto has also done a nice job in reducing road noise with their new technology.
The lower rolling resistant tread compound is another plus, but the savings are likely to be minimal. Our biggest disappointment with this model is the lower than expected tread life. This is backed by many driver reviews pointing out this very same issue. Yes, Nitto provides a 50,000 mile warranty, but we would like to see a longer lasting treadlife from a tire like this.
Overall, the NT850 Plus is a solid performer in almost all areas.

Nitto provides a 50,000 mile tread warranty on the 850 Plus. Tire uniformity is guaranteed for the first 1/32 inch of wear.
Materials and workmanship are warranted for 5-years and includes free tire replacement during the first 25% of wear. A prorated amount is then given down to the final 2/32 inch of tread depth. You’ll also receive a 30-day ride and try guarantee on this tire.
