The Dune Grappler DT from Nitto combines aggressive off-road capabilities with refined on-road comfort and drivability. Designed for drivers of small to large pickups and SUV’s, the tire is available exclusively at Discount Tire, and comes in a wide range of load ratings, including D and E sizes. LT and P-metric sizes are also available.
The all-season tread compound is rated M+S for better performance in a wide variety of weather and road conditions. One thing you immediately notice upon looking at the tread design are the flames. It adds a unique look that grabs your attention, and the attention of everyone who sees these tires. (Nitto provides a more plain black sidewall option if you prefer.)
Flared taper and bridge design on this model allow it to reduce flex for enhanced steering response and better overall handling on or off road. An intermediate void-ratio provides increased performance when driving on sand or gravel, while the available 3-ply polyester construction increases puncture resistance and reduces tire bruising.
Nitto utilizes the latest in computer simulation technology to give the tread block design added noise resistance, resulting in a quieter highway ride. Many drivers have commented on how quiet this tire is compared to other off-road models.

Overall Thoughts
Just one look at the tread design and you know it is serious on performance. The flames just plain look great on this tire and will certainly impress your friends and neighbors. Beyond that, the traction and handling performance in sand, dirt, gravel, snow and other terrain is excellent. Steering is crisp andvery responsive. No, they are not the best going through the mud, but they are not designed for it.
The Dune Grappler is a very quiet tire despite your first look at it. Traveling 70 mph down the highway and talking with anyone in your vehicle is not an issue. Treadlife is typically in the 40,000 mile category based on what other drivers are reporting. Overall, Nitto has created another quality on and off road tire that does what it says it will do.
