Nexen CP641 Tire Review & Rating

The high performance all-season CP641 from Nexen Tires is designed to fit all types of sport coupes and sedans. With its directional tread pattern and precision handling, the CP641 is built to provide optimal performance at a lower cost.

The tire’s all-season tread compound and directional pattern combine with dual center ribs to deliver enhanced steering response and added cornering stability on dry or wet pavement.

Four wide circumferential grooves provide added wet traction on wet road surfaces while evacuating water from under the tread to reduce the risk of hydroplaning, which is something this tire does well. Nexen has incorporated a 5 random pitch variation to effectively reduce tread pattern noise and improve overall ride comfort.

Inside the tire you’ll find dual steel belts with a polyester cord body for added strength and stability. Sizes are available from 13 to 17 inches, and the tire comes with either an H or V-speed rating. A 55,000 mile tread warranty is also included.

Overall Thoughts

We have to say that this CP641 surprised us a little with how well it performed. Traction and handling on wet and dry pavement was very good, and even on snow this tire holds up well. The steering provides good feel and delivers very good stability throughout the speed range.

Cornering is good for most drivers, but for more spirited drivers you may find the sidewall a little soft. Ride comfort is average for a high performance tire, and the tread life is pretty good as well. Overall, a solid performing tire that is priced lower than many competitor tires in this category.

Warranty

Nexen provides a 55,000 mile tread warranty on the CP641. Tire uniformity is guaranteed for the first year or first 2/32 inch of wear.

Materials and workmanship are warranted for 6-years and include free replacement during the first year or first 2/32 inch of wear. A prorated amount is given for the remaining time period or down to the final 2/32 inch of tread depth.
