Nexen Aria AH7 Tire Review & Rating
Designed to deliver reliable all-season performance at a much lower price point than similar brand name tires, the Nexen Aria AH7 is built for all types of coupes, sedans, minivans, crossovers and smaller SUV’s.
Nexen’s all-season tread compound and symmetric tread pattern is created to increase dry and wet traction, while also being responsive and providing optimal handling and cornering grip in town or on the highway due in part to the stiffer tread block design. This is a strength for this tire and we’ve heard this mentioned in numerous driver reviews on this model as well.
Four wide circumferential grooves and added lateral slots enhance traction on wet pavement and reduce the risks of hydroplaning. Again, the level of wet grip may surprise you somewhat. It’s among some of the best in the all-season class.
While most all-season tires provide little in the way of snow traction once the snow starts adding up, the Nexen AH7 holds its own in this area. Although it is nowhere near the level of traction of a dedicated winter tire, it does offer much better than average grip in winter road conditions.
A 5-optimal tread pitch arrangement helps give this tire a quiet ride on the highway, which is another plus for this model.
Inside the tire are twin steel belts that add strength and durability, while the tire’s uniform footprint increases treadlife and reduces uneven wear. Nexen features a number of 15-18 inch sizes, and all sizes have either an H or T-speed rating. An 80K mile tread warranty is included, and you’ll also receive a rare for any tire, 32K mile road hazard protection warranty.
- Dependable dry and wet traction
- Better than average winter performance
- Smooth and quiet ride
- Would like to see the addition of more sizes
The Nexen Aria AH7 is one of those tires that takes you by surprise in how well it performs in all the key areas. With second and third tier brand names you often find performance to be lacking in these areas. That’s just not the case here.
Dry and wet braking, acceleration and traction is simply among the better tires in its class. We rate it just below tires like the Continental TrueContact, Michelin Defender and Nokian Entyre 2.0 among others.
Perhaps most surprising to us is the level of traction on snow, as well as in how quiet this tire rides. In addition, treadlife has proven to be very good. With its 760 UTQG rating you should realistically expect to see 70-80K miles of average use.
Overall, if you’re looking for a standard all-season tire that provides good value and performance for the dollar, the Nexen AH7 is a solid choice. We rate it in the upper half of this category.
