New Continental ExtremeContact DWS06 On The Way

Jan 2015 – Big news out of Continental Tire North America. The company has provided a sneek peak of their new replacement for the 6-yr old ExtremeContact DWS. Called the DWS06, it will have a few new features to go with a carry-over of the performance that has made it one of the better ultra-high performance all-season tires in its class.

You can expect to see increases in wet traction and a big emphasis in the areas of handling and steering response. Continenta’s goal is to give the DWS06 a boost in crispness, which is an area that we’re happy to see being addressed.

As for what is being carried over, you’ll find the same excellent snow traction that has separated the DWS from many of its competitors. The tread pattern will also resemble that of the original.

Sizes have not been announced, but the tire will come with W and Y speed ratings and continue to sport the Tuned Performance Indicators that make it easier for drivers to see how well the tire is wearing.

From the sound of it the new DWS06 will have handling similar to their ControlContact Sport AS (which was rumored by many to be the replacement to the DWS). Time will tell of course, but as soon as this model is released we will have a full review for you.
