Nankang NK Utility FT-4 Tire Review & Rating

Sporting a balance of all-season performance handling and stability with driving comfort, the Nankang NK Utility FT-4 offers drivers a value priced option in new tires. Developed for all types of light trucks, SUV’s and crossovers, the FT4 includes some of latest in Nankang’s tire technology.

The all-season M+S rated tread compound and advanced radial technology combine with a symmetrical tread pattern to give this tire minimal road noise, while creating a more even treadwear.

Shoulder grooves around the outside of the tire and a larger footprint enhance handling and provided added steering response for better stability on dry or wet pavement. Four circumferential grooves and unique angled tread blocks increase wet handling and reduce the risk of hydroplaning.

The tires 5-pitch design and noise prevention bar minimizes road noise, making the driving experience more enjoyable, while also preventing premature tread wear. The result is a longer treadlife, something that has been mentioned by many drivers of this tire.

Nankang offers a range of 15-18 inch sizes, and all sizes feature an H-speed rating. A 50K mile tread warranty is included as well.

Overall Thoughts

The FT-4 is arguably the best Nankang SUV/truck all-season tire in their lineup. Traction and handling on wet or dry pavement is excellent. The tire simply goes where you steer it, and it does it smoothly and with good comfort. The other thing with this tire is the longer treadlife you can expect.

Winter traction and handling is really the only glaring weakness on this particular tire. Use extra caution when braking on ice or hard-pack, although this is a common problem area for most every all-season tire regardless of who makes the tire.

Overall, this is a solid performing tire that sports a lower price. It’s makes for a very good option if budget is a major consideration in choosing a new set of tires.
