Michelin Destiny Tire Review & Rating

Designed to provide true year-round traction, the Michelin Destiny has become one of the best-selling tires in the Michelin lineup. This all-season tire is engineered for drivers of coupes, sedans and minivans who demand performance, comfort and a good value out of their tires.

The all-season tread compound sports a deeper than usual 11/32 inch tread depth, which gives a longer treadlife than most tires in this class. This is one reason why Michelin provides an 80,000 mile tread warranty on the tire.

Michelin Destiny Tire Review

Full-width steel belts are utilized in the tread that are made to add more stability and give the tire better steering response and feel on both wet or dry road surfaces. Wet traction is enhanced through circumferential grooves and variable width lateral sipes which evacuate water and slush from under the tread and reduce the risk of hydroplaning.

The variable pitch sequence in the tread pattern eliminates most all road noise and makes for better driving enjoyment. This is backed up by the many reviews talking about the comfort level and virtual non-existent outside noise on the Destiny.

Inside the tread you will find two steel belts that are nylon reinforced for better strenght and stability at higher speeds. They also increase ride comfort and provide for more even treadwear.

Overall Thoughts

Note: Since this review was published, Michelin has discontinued making the Destiny.

Michelin is known for their performance and comfort, and the Destiny has both of them. The tire simply handles well on all types of road surfaces and in all weather conditions. Steering response is good and this tire gives you a good feel on the road. The ride is very comfortable and quiet, just as you would expect from Michelin.

Some have mentioned a little more road noise as the tire wears out, but this can be expected from most any tire on the road. That said, the treadlife on this model is excellent. We’ve heard from many drivers who have gotten well over the 80,000 miles the tire is warranted for. All in all, this tire provides some of the best value for the money you’ll find in an all-season tire.
