Mastercraft Avenger Touring LSR Tire Review & Rating

The Avenger Touring LSR from Mastercraft is built to deliver touring all-season performance and a smooth, comfortable ride. Designed for drivers of all types of coupes, sedans, minivans, SUV’s and crossovers, the Touring LSR also sports a longer lasting tread life at a budget-friendly price.

A silica and carbon black tread compound combines with a symmetric tread pattern to increase both dry and wet traction. The optimized polymer matrix compound is more pliable at colder temperatures for enhanced performance, while also providing a lower rolling resistance for added fuel efficiency.

Mastercraft Avenger Touring LSR Tire Review

A 4 or 5 rib design, depending on the tire’s speed rating, is engineered to provide increased ride stability throughout the speed zone. Wet handling is enhanced through four circumferential grooves and numerous lateral grooves. They channel away the water and reduce the risk of hydroplaning. The LSR is M+S rated and provides adequate handling on light snow covered surfaces.

Inside the tire you will find a steel belted construction for added strength and durability. A polyester cord body adds to ride comfort and promotes more even treadwear. Mastercraft has a wide array of sizes ranging from 14-19 inches, and they include either a 60,000 or 80,000 mile tread guarantee depending on the speed rating of the tire.

Pros

  • Excellent dry and wet traction
  • Cornering is responsive and steering provides good feel
  • Ride is comfortable and road noise is minimal
  • Very good treadlife

Cons

  • Winter weather handling

Overall Thoughts

The Avenger Touring LSR is one of Mastercraft’s better tires in their lineup. The tire handles very well on both dry and wet pavement. Cornering is predictable and steering response is pretty good as well. Traction in light snow is decent, but deep snow and ice is an area that could be better, although this is not a snow tire.

We like the ride comfort on this tire, as have many other drivers in reviews and ratings. Road noise is minimal and the tire provides a nice ride on the highway. Tread life is better than many models in this class.

Overall, we rank the LSR in the upper half of this class. While it may not be on the line of tires from Michelin, Continental or Pirelli, it still delivers good performance at a lower price point.

  1. I bought Mastercraft Avenger 225/55R18 98T tires for my 2012 Hyundai Tucson. I bought them in Jan 2016 for $771. These are supposed to be 80,000 mile tires if rotated. I got less than 50,000 miles out of them, over lightly less than 4 1/2 years.

  2. Would like to know best. All Season MasterCard fire would be best for
(2005 Avalon Limited). Avenged touring, StrategySRT, A/SIG or NC-440. Live in Ohio want a ride best for Ohio weather !

  3. This tire is properly known as “GRAND” Touring LSR and not as “Avenger” touring LSR on the Mastercraft Website.

This ‘misinformation’ makes it difficult for average joe to relate to your information.

    Thanks

    1. Larry, an FYI that there IS an Avenger touring LSR – I’ve had them on my Buick Rendezvous since 2014. They ARE different from the GRAND touring LSR, especially for tread life. The Touring LSR has 60k – 80k treadwear rating (depending on the speed rating of the tire), while the GRAND touring LSR only has a 40k rating.
