Laufenn X Fit HT Tire Review & Rating

The Laufenn X Fit HT tire is designed to provide drivers of pickups, SUV’s and vans dependable all-season traction and handling for a lower cost. As part of the Hankook family, the X Fit HT utilizes much of the same tire technology found in higher priced tires.

The tire’s all-season tread compound features a protective layer of rubber under the tread surface that aids in preventing impact damage from rocks and other debris. Laufenn has also added high-tensile rubber to the sidewalls to deliver additional strength against potential damage when driving on gravel or other light terrain.

Like most every all-season tire, you can expect reliable traction and handling on dry road surfaces. It handles itself quite well, and the high stiffness center tread block helps provide a quicker steering response and enhanced stability when cornering at higher speeds. The tire’s shoulder design further increases its road-holding ability and overall feel.

Wet traction on the X Fit HT is increased through larger circumferential grooves, multiple lateral grooves and hundreds of zig-zag sipes around the tread. They work together to provide the type of grip you want on wet pavement. These same zig-zag sipes add to traction on snow, slush and ice as well.

The tread is optimized to reduce unwanted road noise, and along with closed shoulder blocks, it does its job very well.

Inside the tire are two high-strength steel belts that provide added stability at higher speeds, as well as better durability for extended wear. A joint-less bead wire adds to tire uniformity. Laufenn also includes a 60K mile tread warranty on all sizes.

Overall Thoughts

The Laufenn X Fit HT may surprise you a bit in how well it performs in everyday driving. For its low price you might be tempted to think it’s just another cheap tire, but that’s not the case here. Unless it’s deep snow and ice, this tire does more than an adequate job around town or out on the highway.

Riding on the HT is also a pleasure. Road noise is minimal, which we’ve heard other driver reviews mention as well, and ride comfort is pretty good. Rough pavement and potholes roughen the ride, but that’s really to be expected. Tread life appears to be long lasting and we have not heard anything different from other drivers on this tire.

Overall we rank the HT in the upper half of its class. Though arguably not up to the performance level of models like the Yokohama YK-HTX, General HTS60 or Michelin Defender LTX M/S among others, it still does a solid job. The price is low, which is very appealing for budget-conscious drivers.

Warranty

Laufenn provides a 5-year or 60,000 mile treadlife warranty on the X Fit HT. A one-year or first 2/32 inch of wear guarantee on tire uniformity is also included.

Materials and workmanship have a 5-year guarantee and come with free tire replacement during the first year or first 2/32 inch of wear. Laufenn will then prorate the amount down to 2/32 inch of tread depth.
