Laufenn S Fit AS Tire Review & Rating

Released in 2015, the Laufenn S Fit AS ultra-high performance all-season tire is billed as both an UHP tire and one that is also safer and longer lasting. Built for performance sports cars and sedans, the Laufenn S Fit AS is part of Hankook’s entry-level tire line that has become quite popular among budget-minded drivers.

The Laufenn S Fit AS combines a high performance tread compound with an asymmetric tread design that is designed to deliver more responsive handling, increased traction and a longer lasting treadlife.

The tread pattern consists of 4 straight circumferential grooves that are wider, which aids in providing ample drainage of water when driving on wet road surfaces. Laufenn uses what they call 3D hydroplaning simulation technology to go with 3D sipes around the tread to further improve grip and brake performance on wet or snow covered pavement.

The semi-rib design of the outer shoulder increases block stiffness, adding to the overall stability, steering, handling and performance of the tire. The rib block sections at the edge of the tire help in eliminating unwanted noise and vibration which makes for a more comfortable ride.

The tire’s internal structure has two wide, steel belts with a jointless full nylon cover which provide added strength and high-speed handling performance. The tread incorporates tie bars, which aid in reinforcing the shoulder tread. The tie bars connect the shoulder blocks for advanced cornering and gripping and prevents irregular wear over time.

The Laufenn S Fit AS comes with a 45K mile tread warranty, and is available in a number of 17-18 inch sizes.

The S Fit AS fills a need in the entry-level UHP tire market. It’s a solid performing inexpensive alternative to the more expensive big name models. You’ll find this tire does a number of things quite well. Traction and handling on dry or wet roads is very good. It provides a good feel for the road and delivers more than capable cornering grip and stability.

One of the biggest issues for this model is one that is expected… winter performance. It handles light snow and slush pretty well, but once you get into deeper snow, hard-pack and ice, the performance deteriorates. Honestly, it’s not a surprise for tires in this category.

Overall, as we mentioned earlier, the S Fit AS is a good performing, entry level all-season UHP tire that comes in at a much lower cost over the big name brands. The value and performance makes this a nice option for those looking to fill every day driving needs.

Warranty

Laufenn provides a 5 year or 45,000 mile treadlife warranty on the S Fit AS. A one-year or first 2/32 inch of wear guarantee on tire uniformity is also included.

Materials and workmanship have a 5 year guarantee and come with free tire replacement during the first year or first 2/32 inch of wear. Laufenn will then prorate the amount down to 2/32 inch of tread depth.
