Laufenn I Fit Ice Tire Review & Rating

The Laufenn I Fit Ice studdable winter tire is built to not only tackle rough winter road conditions, but is designed to save you a substantial amount of money over bigger name brand winter tires. Aimed toward owners of all types of coupes, sedans, minivans and crossovers, the I Fit Ice incorporates the latest in winter tire technology for dependable performance on ice and snow covered roads.

Laufenn uses a unique high-grip silica winter rubber tread compound that is specially made for use in colder temperatures for enhanced grip on cold dry or wet pavement. 3-D wave sipes and a snow kerf design around the tire increase traction on snow, slush, ice and wet pavement, while also improving overall brake performance.

You’ll notice that the I Fit Ice also has small absorbing holes in the tread blocks that absorb water and slush for additional grip in winter conditions. This is a real plus on this tire.

This tire is also pinned for adding studs in the event you live in an area that sees extremely difficult winter conditions. While this is certainly not unique on winter tires, Laufenn has used an advanced stud pin design on this tire. They have arranged the studs into 16 different lines, including multiple stud lines on the center tread blocks. This helps to greatly enhance cornering grip and stability on icy roads.

Inside the tire are two wide steel belts, a jointless full cover, and a high hardness bead filler that works to ensure a longer treadlife and better handling response at higher speeds.

You’ll find the Laufenn I Fit Ice available in a range of 14-18 inch sizes, and all sizes feature a T-speed rating. A limited tread warranty is also included.

Overall Thoughts

We’ve considered the Laufenn line of tires to be very good in the traction/handling and value that they deliver. Basically, you’ll find big name brand like performance at a discounted price. This new I Fit Ice is no different.

Grip on snow, slush, hard-pack and ice is above average in this class. We’ve heard this from other drivers of this tire as well. Laufenn has used all the new tire technology to create a tire that simply provides the kind of performance you look for in a winter tire.

With that being the case, this model is not perfect by any means. We would like to see a bit more traction on wet pavement at higher speeds. Although this would not be an issue for most drivers, if you are a more spirited driver who likes to push the limits you’ll want to keep that in mind.

Overall, Laufenn has produced a solid performing winter tire. In addition, the price is lower than many brands, which is nice if you’re looking to save money.

Warranty

Laufenn provides a limited tread warranty on the I Fit Ice. A one-year or first 2/32 inch of wear guarantee on tire uniformity is also included. Materials and workmanship have a 5-year guarantee and come with free tire replacement during the first year or first 2/32 inch of wear. Laufenn will then prorate the amount down to 2/32 inch of tread depth.
