Kumho Sense Tire Review & Rating

Affordability and performance are two things that drivers of family and passenger cars often aim for when shopping for new tires, and the Kumho Sense all-season tire strives to deliver just that. With Kumho specific technology and a solid tread design, this tire is made for all weather and all condition driving.

An all-season tread compound is molded into a symmetric tread design for traction and grip on dry, wet and light winter weather road surfaces. In wet conditions they hold the surface well. This is due in part to the notched shoulders and multiple lateral grooves that combine with circumferential grooves to channel away water and avoid hydroplaning.

Kumho Sense Tire Review

Kumho utilizes their Full Depth Sipe System which effectively increases grip on wet pavement, while also providing more bite on snow covered streets even as the tread wears down. Ride comfort and lower road noise is addressed through the use of variable pitch tread block technology, which works pretty well on this model.

Durability and treadwear are enhanced by strong twin steel belts that are reinforced with spirally wrapped nylon. Kumho backs this tire with a 40,000 mile warranty, and sizes are available ranging from 13 to 17 inches.

Pros

  • Solid all-season performance
  • Comfortable ride quality
  • Budget-friendly price

Cons

  • Add a bit more winter traction on ice

Overall Thoughts

Kumho Sense KR26 tires have a lot going for them. They deliver very good basic all-season traction and handling for a lower cost than most bigger name brand models. While you don’t always expect much from tires in this price bracket, these deliver in virtually all aspects of driving. The ride is comfortable and road noise is minimal at highway speeds.

One area we could see improvement in would be traction and braking on ice. That said though, this is not a winter specific tire and somewhat to be expected from all-season tires.

Overall, the Sense is a very good tire for a price that is lower than many similar big name models. It’s very appealing for budget-minded drivers. Highly recommended.

  1. Decent enough on dry sealed roads but pretty basic in the wet. Dry dirt road traction is good enough. Fitted to 2010 Subaru Forester. I will be purchasing a different tire next time.

  2. A great budget friendly tire for my 1996 Mazda Protege. Dry and Wet traction is good for a budget tire.
