Kumho ecowing KH30 Tire Review & Rating
The Ecowing KH30 is Kumho Tires environmentally friendly all-season model that has recently been added to their lineup. Engineered for drivers of coupes, sedans, minivans and small SUV’s, the KH30 features eco-friendly materials in the tread makeup to go with handling and performance that you would expect from Kumho.
An all-season silica enhanced tread compound is designed with green technology and materials that lower CO2 emissions, making it more environmentally friendly. This compound also reduces rolling resistance, which further increases fuel efficiency. That said, this tire is also about delivering good performance on the road.
The tread sidewalls have been stiffened to enhance dry surface traction and cornering, while also increasing steering response and stability throughout the speed zone. Ride comfort is quiet due to the dynamic tread pitch sequence that Kumho uses to reduce the road noise. Many drivers have commented on the tire being more quiet than other similar brands.
Four circumferential grooves and the tire’s full-depth sipes aid in evacuating water from under the tire and increasing hydroplane resistance. The sipe’s biting edges further enhance grip on snow covered road surfaces as well.
Inside the tire you will find two steel belts that are spirally wrapped with nylon to provide added strength and durability. They also promote more even treadwear and a longer overall tread life. Kumho includes a 60,000 mile tread guarantee on this tire.
- Dry, wet and snow traction are very good
- Tire is comfortable and very quiet
- Eco-friendly tire with a lower rolling resistance for better efficiency
- Long lasting treadlife and a 60,000 mile warranty
- Tires can be hard to find at times
Compared to other eco-friendly tires from Michelin, Bridgestone and more, the KH30 holds its own in terms of overall performance. They grip the road in all types of road conditions with confidence, and the ride is quiet and smooth. Treadlife is also very good. On top of that, the price is lower than many of the other similar brands. Overall, this is a solid option in an all-season tire that is also more environmentally friendly.
