The new Kelly Edge A/S tire is specially designed as an economical touring all-season tire for drivers of all types of coupes, sedans, minivans, crossovers and smaller SUV’s. Kelly Tire has stated that this new line will eventually replace the Charger GT, Safari Signature and Explorer Plus models.
The Edge AS features a new all-season tread compound and tread block design that is built to enhance traction on dry and wet road surfaces. You’ll find confident grip on dry pavement with solid braking performance as well. For an economy based tire, it does a good overall job in this area.
Wider circumferential grooves around the tread help channel away water and slush for added grip when driving on wet pavement. With biting edges, traction on snow should be adequate for most drivers.
Dual steel belts along with an enhanced tread footprint help lengthen treadlife. With a 500 UTQG rating you should see 50K miles or more out of the tread. Goodyear, who is the parent company to Kelly, warrants this tire for 55,000 miles. You’ll find sizes available that range from 14-17 inches, and come with either a T, H or V-speed rating.

Overall Thoughts
The market for budget-friendly new tires includes some very good models today, and this Kelly Edge tire further adds to the list. Being under the Goodyear umbrella, Kelly is positioned as a trusted name in tires. We like the all-around performance on dry and wet streets, as well its ride quality. Simply stated, it gives you a confident feeling behind the wheel.
You may notice a little extra road noise and the ride may not be as soft as you would find on a premium Michelin touring tire, but that’s not surprising since it’s a basic all-season model. That said, it still delivers a decent ride quality.
The other area you might have some concern with is the tire’s winter performance. It’s fine in light snow, but keep in mind this is not a winter tire and traction in heavier amounts of snow or on ice is likely to be a little more problematic.
What this tire does best is deliver reliable and dependable everyday performance at a price that fits just about any budget. It’s a good choice for drivers who don’t want to pay a lot of money for new tires. We can certainly recommend this model and feel that it is one of better tires in the budget all-season class.

Warranty
Kelly provides a 55,000 mile tread warranty on the Edge A/S. Tire uniformity is guaranteed for 6-months or the first 2/32 inch of wear.
Materials and workmanship are warranted for 6-years and include free replacement during the first year or first 2/32 inch of wear. A prorated amount is given for the remaining time period or down to the final 2/32 inch of tread depth.

Purchased these tires for my used 2010 Ford Fusion SEL AWD. Decent enough tires, got me around. 20,000 miles later the tire shop tells me they need to be replaced already. Save some money for better tires, do not buy these unless you really want to replace them every 20,000 miles.
Purchased new set of Kelly 235/16 Edge A/S for my 09 Escape last spring to replaced the original Michelins. Ran them until October and they seemed pretty good but now after changing out winter tires they are extremely noisy, worse than the winter tires. If it wasn’t for the noise I like the tires but noise is unbearable.
Awful tires dont buy before this I had the Goodyear Assurance Confortred tour and it no noise. This time I decided to go with Kelly’s edge and wow the noise is unbearable just got them 2 day ago dont know how long it will last
I would never recommend Kelly Edge A/S Tires. 21,000 miles and need to be replaced.. I maintain proper pressure, do rotations regularly etc. I’m 78 yrs old, have owned many cars, and never needed replacements at 21,000 miles.
Extremely disappointed and will never purchase Kelly tires again. Before I purchase tires, I will do my homework..
Bought 4 of the Kelly 225/50/17 on 12/2020 for my 2012 Ford Fushion. Very quiet tire. Had ice/ storm four days after purchase. I was amazed at how they handled the bad road conditions. Later that day there was a lot of melted snow and slush on the roads. They seem to get rid of it really well. We felt very safe driving with the Kelly tires on. I highly recommend.
Tires are junk only lasted 8080 mile and they would not go good for them had to buy new tires
Put these on my ford edge…at first they were ok but after a year they were noisy and pretty much wore out at 35k miles…wouldn’t recommend, save yourself the hassle and spend a little extra for something that lasts and is quieter….
I bought these tires for a 2006 Buick Lucerne five years ago. Went to Monro Muffler for a free car inspection on an oil change 6 months ago and they said the tires were down to 5/32nds of an inch, and my brakes were a damn road hazard. I got the brakes replaced at another garage a month later with some financial help. Still waiting on getting the tires replaced. Supposed to have 5/32nds for snow, 4/32nds for rain, 3/32nds for dry. I only have about 12,000 miles on these tires over 5 years. They were fine until this year when they started making a lot of noise. The noise is 70 dB at 40 mph, and 75 dB at 75 mph, measured with a phone app in the car. I can hardly hear my stereo now. So I’m looking for replacement tires. Since I’m like a Sunday driver these tires would be OK for the price. But looking at the reviews here and wondering if tire companies will exist after this year because of the pandemic, I should shell out an extra 50% for tires that have much more tread life.
I own a 2008 Chysler PT Cruiser LX and replaced all 4 tires back in August of 2019 with the Kelly Edge A/S 195/65R15 91H VSB at Goodyear in Pembroke Pines, Florida. I had Goodyear balance, mount and install them as well as had a wheel alignment service performed. I have to agree with several of the reviews here that the tires are extremely noisy. The noise also becomes more apparent the faster you go. At 50mph, I start hearing a hum noise. As I increase to 60mph the tires seem to be vibrating but as soon as I reach 70mph the vibration goes away. I would say the noise level is equivalent to having off-road tires or snow tires which are both noisy when driving on pavement. I have owned these tires for a year and have only driven 6,185 miles with them, rotated them 2x at exactly 6mo each. My tires were inspected by the Chrysler Dealership Service Department and the reported all 4 tires at 7/32″. That is a loss of 3 since at the time of installation they were 10/32″. So I would say the tire for driving only 6,185 miles in Florida under normal conditions is a big loss. Just to put my mind at ease, I am going to go back into Goodyear and have them balance the tires again and inspect them and explain how the tire has only 7/32″ left since ownership. Before I go, I will do my own visual inspection and tread loss via the Penny method and then see if my findings match that of Goodyear. On a scale of 1-10 and 10 being “fully satisfied”, I would rate these tires with the issues I am experiencing a good 6/10.
I bought a set of 2 a couple days back and im not very impressed with them especially paying 200 for them. Road noise i don’t mind because I own a used 2003 ford crown victoria police interceptor so the goodyear eagle sports that they run had road noise. The wet drivablility is so poor to the point where I felt safer driving on wet streets with my almost bald goodyear eagle sports. I’d also like to complain about how the sidewalls are very weak. They make my car shimmy going around corners and stuff due to sidewall flex making my car feel very unstable. After this set I’d definitely recommend not buying a pair. They’re cheap priced and cheap made. Definitely going to spend the extra few pennies next time and buy some touring tires
I find the negative comments interesting and puzzling. I have a Dodge Neon SRT 4 with the Kelly 215/50r17’s on it and I haven’t had any issues with them. Dodge didn’t install mufflers on my car new so I have the Factory sound levels that may mask the tire noise, but the are inexpensive tires and they seem to be wearing well. On my Challenger SRT 8 I have Goodyear Supercar tires because of the speeds that I drive. In short, for the money they are a good choice in my opinion.
Extremely noisy . Had them rebalanced at shop twice since getting then 100 miles ago.Car Sounds like a helicopter . Shop won’t take them back so I am now stuck with these garbage tires . Will never buy kelly again.
I have to agree. I just bought a low mileage 2017 GTI and the dealer had just put these tires on the car. Handling wise they are pretty good and ride quality is good, but the road noise for a car enthusiast like myself is enough to drive me crazy. The best thing about them is the visual appeal as they look like an expensive set of performance tires as long as you don’t read the badging.
Even though my last set of these tires only lasted 20,000 miles, I just purchased a new set. Reason being, I don’t put many miles per year on this vehicle. It has been 3 years since I purchased the previous set. I don’t see an economic advantage to buying a more expensive tire because tire age would require new tires long before tread wore out. Dealer did recommend these tires to be rotated every 6 months or 6,000 miles.

professionally monitored every once in a while to make sure there isn’t a problem that can be seriously
dangerous for you, in terms of car accidents and tire wear mid-traction.
A set of Kelly tires came with my used ’14 Honda Civic when I bought it back in ’17. So far the tread has held up and I have driven it through the rain and did some hard breaking in it and the tire seems to be holding up. I’m not saying it’s the best tire but for budget tire (looks to be around $80 per tire) it seems to sufficient. I’m not a GYE guy, in my opinion they have been the worse value tire out of all the tire manufacturers and since this is a “budget” tire I’m not going to complain thus far about the performance.

Bought four of these for my Toyota Rav 4, and after only 21,000 miles in less than a year, I’m at 45% treadwear (or however you say it). How can that be? I was actually going to question the Flagship Fastlube place where I bought them, thinking the tires might have been switched! But after researching, I found a lot more negative comments than positive ones on these tires. I’m going to suggest they don’t sell these or I’ll get new tires from someplace else in the future.

Kelly tires are garbage. I’m an easy careful driver and could hardly stay on the road with this junk. From a standing start on wet streets the front tires spun even with a slight push on the gas. I drive a four cylinder economy car so it’s not as if a whole lot of power breaks traction. I always had these tires properly inflated but it made no difference. At ten thousand easy miles I must replace this junk.
I recently saw an Acura with the Kelly Edge A/S tires. The Acura owner doesn’t seem to think the tire is “garbage.”
Put on at dealer as ‘new’ – got 20,000 miles and barely pass inspection. AWD Nissan Rogue driven very easy by Grandma
Totally disappointed
I bought a used 2016 Toyota Camry SE 2-years ago (certified Toyota dealer) and it came with a new set of these tires from the dealer. From day-1 there is a noticeable hum and vibration from the tires (its not the car because I’ve swapped the tires and it goes away). Wet traction is horrible, the worst I have ever experienced in my life to the point I avoid the freeway whenever it rains; 60+ mph on a wet road feels like driving on snow. Snow/winter traction is so bad that these tires drove me to buy my first set of dedicated winter tires ever (Michelin Xi3) (FYI I live in Wisconsin and I’m 38, so thats a lot of tires and long time never thinking/wanting to have dedicated snow tires). If you even remotely believe these tires are good, you dont know what you are missing, these are junk and anything out there is better than them.
Bought tires in 08/2016 from Good Year Distributor, at Deltona Florida, for 2010 Camry SE, rode for 20,000 miles, tires were completely worn out evenly and the Good Year distributor flat out said he couldn’t give us any prorated guarantee, when the Kelly Edge A/S 94V was “supposedly” 55,000 miles warranty. Very upset.
2014 Camry SE 215-55R17s Losing grip on damp/wet pavement with plenty of tread. Not impressed – concerns me as my 16 yr old drives it to work at night. Will not buy again, and might have to replace.
I agree these tire suck in the rain I have lots of tread left but they break loose on corners have had several butt pucker of 10 on a scale to 5 with these do not buy them
Bought these March 11. Had about 5 in of snow early morning of March 14th. Contrary to what previous reviews have said I give these tire a five star rating . 22 mile trip in mixed conditions was problem free. Driving a 2015 Kia Soul.
I like these tires. No issues so far. Bought them in the spring. Not worried about winter performance. Have winter tires. For the price they’re good value. Beats the cooper tires I was driving on.

My experience has been when the tires are new and cold, there is some noise. After a few hundred miles, it disappears.
thats what i am experiencing too… at first 3 months, it wasnt that noisy… but since August 2016 and now, it is now around 13,700 miles , it gets more noisy and not healthy to the ears.. get it to the shop for tire rotation and asked for a multi point inspection test, it said the tires are in red flag, it started to brittle.. gonna buy another brand again.. we used it for our family minivan dodge grand caravan for our weekend trips and kids getting to school…
I bought these tires and paid $499.99 with a 55,000 mile warranty. Biggest waste of my good money. At 19,000 miles the tread is wornso far down and the tires shake me all over. Horrible on wet roads too. I barely drive 8,000 miles a year and am diligent on having my tires rotated and balanced. I went back to the tire shop where I bought them and they agreed that these tires are not going to last, but could not help me with a solution. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY.
