Hankook I*Cept Evo2 W320 Tire Review & Rating

The Hankook I*Cept Evo2 W320 is an ambitious winter tire offering that purports to deliver “ultra-high” performance in winter weather driving conditions. The tire was built with an abundance of winter driving features in mind such as a unique asymmetric tread pattern, 3D sipes and wider lateral grooves to increase traction and reduce the likelihood of hydroplaning on wet roads.

Hankook’s tread compound for the I*Cept Evo2 W320 makes use of additional silica so that the tire remains flexible in freezing temperatures and delivers better grip on wet pavement. The tire’s tread pattern is particularly unique, having been built with an asymmetric design intended to remove water from the surface of the road and to improve grip in snow, slush, and ice.

The tread’s wider shoulder blocks combine with its pattern design to give this tire added traction on dry road surfaces, which is something many drivers have made mention of in reviews on this tire.

As tire technology continues to develop, company engineers continue to innovate in the structural build, tread patterns, and tread compounds. Hankook has made several very good tires in recent years, and the I*Cept Evo2 W320 is an ambitious offering to be sure.

This tire is excellent in many areas, particularly its wet and dry road handling and traction capabilities. It also provides a large degree of ride comfort and noise comfort, especially for a winter tire. Another big plus for this model is the lower price. Compared to some other major brands, the W320 can save you some extra cash. 

Unfortunately, this tire falls short in the one department where consumers expect a winter tire to excel… which is deep snow and ice. It’s not that it’s terrible of course, but we feel it doesn’t stand up to some other top performing tires in this class. Coupled with a soft tread compound which accelerates tread wear over the life of the tire, the I*Cept Evo2 W320 quickly becomes a middle of the class type of winter tire.

Warranty

Hankook provides a limited treadlife warranty on the I Cept Evo2 W320. A one-year or first 2/32 inch of wear guarantee on tire uniformity is also included. Materials and workmanship have a 5 year guarantee and come with free tire replacement during the first year or first 2/32 inch of wear. Hankook will then prorate the amount down to 2/32 inch of tread depth.
