Hankook Ventus V2 Concept2 H457 Tire Review & Rating

The Hankook Ventus V2 Concept2 H457 is the company’s basic high performance all-season tire. Built for sport coupes and sedans, the H457 is designed to provide enhanced dry and wet traction, as well as increased ride comfort and a more sporty appearance.

Hankook uses a tread compound that includes higher levels of silica to help with traction and grip on all types of road surfaces. The tire’s directional tread pattern and continuous center rib aid in braking and acceleration, while also providing quicker steering response. While the steering is responsive for most drivers, serious driving enthusiasts may feel a little let down by the softer sidewalls on this tire that may put a damper on more spirited driving.

Hankook Ventus V2 Concept2 H457 Tire Review

Wet traction is an area this tire does quite well in. The Hankook Ventus H457 utilizes its silica infused compound along with four wide circumferential grooves and unique V-tread pattern to evacuate water from under the tire. You should find this tire is hard to break loose unless you are trying to out drive the road conditions.

3-D tread blocks and multiple sipes around the tread are added for better performance on snow and ice. That said, this is an all-season tire that performs as expected in rough winter weather, which is to say… not that good.

Another area that Hankook’s engineers spent considerable time on is reducing unwanted road noise. The should tread features a Noise Control Block which helps eliminate noise and make the drive more comfortable.

Inside the tire you’ll find two steel belts that are wrapped with nylon to give the tire added strength and durability. Hankook offers a wide variety of 15-18 inch sizes, and speed ratings range from H, V and W. In addition, a 45K mile tread warranty is also part of the package.

Pros

  • Dry and wet traction
  • Ride comfort
  • Low road noise

Cons

  • Winter traction
  • Harder cornering

Overall Thoughts

The Hankook Ventus 2 H457 is a good fit for anyone who wants to add a little more sporty performance to their vehicle without sacrificing ride quality. This is a tire that handles itself very well on dry or wet roads. The ride is smooth and comfortable for a high performance tire, and has a lower amount of road noise than you might expect.

Where we find issues with this tire is in winter traction and handling, although this is pretty much standard with any all season tire. It should get you around in light amounts of snow, but in deep snow and ice things can go downhill quickly.

Finally, if you enjoy more spirited driving and taking corners at higher speeds, you may want to look to a different tire. While delivering more than adequate steering response and handling stability, this is not a tire that is designed to more serious handling performance. Overall we rank the H457 in the middle of the pack in its class.

  1. I purchased these Hankook Ventus V2 Concept 2 H457 from Discount tires for my 2011 Chevrolet HHR LS Panel and i live in Florida so i was looking for a tire that was good in the wet and dry conditions. I only have alittle over 7,000 miles on them and i like them in the dry but in the rain these tires suck big time and when you turn left or right and just give it alittle gas it wants to spin out and when you go to stop they do not grip very good at all and you have to be super careful in the rain because these tires are super super bad in the rain. My Chevrolet HHR only has a 2.2 L 4 cylinder engine so it is no power house and i am a very careful driver and when it rains i always keep my speed down but like i said these tires are real real bad in the rain. I plan on looking at some differant tires because i can’t stand them at all for the wet weather. Steven
