GT Radial Champiro 328 Tire Review & Rating

The high performance all-season Champiro 328 from GT Radial is built to deliver strong performance for drivers of sport coupes and sedans. Featuring an aggressive and unique tread design, the Champiro 328 is also priced low for budget-minded enthusiasts.

A high-silica tread compound and symmetric tread pattern combines with large integrated shoulder tread blocks for enhanced traction and cornering grip on dry pavement. The tire’s center rib design quickens steering response and increases stability at higher speeds.

Four wide circumferential grooves and a V-shaped tread design add to wet handling and reduce the risk of hydroplaning. GT Radial utilizes an optimized tread pitch sequence to effectively lower tread noise for a quieter ride throughout the speed zone.

Inside the tire you’ll find twin steel belts with a polyester cord body for added strength and durability. There’s also a built-in rim protector to help prevent damaging expensive wheels. The Champiro 328 comes in 15-20 inch sizes and speed ratings of H, V and W.

Pros

  • Excellent dry traction and braking performance
  • Cornering grip
  • Treadlife

Cons

  • Wet traction
  • Ride Comfort

Overall Thoughts

The GT Radial 328 offers some very good performance on dry pavement. The handling and cornering grip at higher speeds is excellent for a lower priced tire. The steering is quick and delivers a good feel. Treadlife is also another plus with this model.

On the other hand, traction on wet road surfaces could be better. You’ll have to use a bit of extra caution when the streets get wet. Although this is an all-season tire, winter handling is dicey. Anything more than a light snow is going to be problematic, which can be expected from one look at the aggressive tread design.

Overall, the 328 is a good choice for drivers on a tight budget who still want a high-performance tire for their everyday driving needs. But if your budget is a bit higher you may want to opt for a better performing tire.

  1. I am saying that I am really enjoying my Champiro 328 tires. Size 205/55×16. They have just entered their 6th year on my PT Cruiser. Have been so happy with the handling and wear. Only nitpick item I can think of is that they ride firmer than the last set of Goodyears, however, have gotten used to that. Great value with these tires.

  2. Hello there,

I recently bought a new car and the previous owner had switched both the rear tires to the Champiro 328’s. A few nights ago, my rear driver-side tire blew while I was driving on the highway but I was quick in my reactions and avoided a fatal accident. I took it to a mechanic and it’s not repairable, how would I have this replaced?

  3. I purchased these tires one year ago and one of the tires has tread showing.
Can you please help me with replacement?
