Goodyear Wrangler Radial Tire Review & Rating

The Wrangler Radial from Goodyear has been around for a number of years now. Designed to provide dependable year-round traction and handling, as well as competent off-road performance, this tire is built for drivers of all types of pickups, jeeps and SUV’s.

A rugged all-season tread compound is matched with an optimized tread design for added traction on dry, wet, snow and off road terrain. The tire’s larger tread blocks around the shoulders increase handling on all types of road surfaces. It’s bigger footprint helps the tire maintain stability at all speeds.

Circumferential grooves around the tread enhance wet grip and reduce the risk of hydroplaning, something this tire does a decent job at. The tread design enables this tire to perform well on snow covered roads.

Inside the tire you will find two steel belts for added strength and durability. Outline white letters are featured on the sidewall that give the tire a more attractive look.

Pros

  • Good traction on dry, wet and snow
  • Competent off-road traction
  • Decent tread life
  • Lower price for a good value

Cons

  • A little extra road noise
  • Tire is beginning to show its age

Overall Thoughts

It seems like the Wrangler Radial has been around for years now, and that’s because it has. Yes, this tire is starting to show its age, but this is still a very capable performing tire. It has excellent dry traction to go with dependable wet and winter grip.

Off-road traction is iffy at times. It delivers solid performance on gravel, dirt, grass and rock. Mud is another story, but then again, that’s not truly what this tire was designed for.

Al in all, if you need a tire to get you around town all year round, as well as take you to your favorite fishing hole or to the backwoods campsite, the Wrangler does its job well. It’s like that favorite pair of old blue jeans in the closet. They may be showing their age, but they fit well and just give you a good overall feeling.
