Goodyear Eagle RS-A2 Tire Review & Rating

Used as original equipment on a number of sport coupes and luxury sedans, the Goodyear Eagle RS-A2 high performance all-season tire is designed to deliver dependable year round performance. It’s been created to improve on the original RS-A in terms of wet grip, treadwear and enhanced winter traction. 

Goodyear combines an all-season tread compound with an asymmetric tread pattern to give this model solid traction on dry or wet pavement. The wider groove pattern on the outside shoulders and the continuous center rib provide increased handling and control throughout the speed range. You’ll find it gives you a nice on-center feeling and a little more precise handling when driving at higher speeds.

Four wide circumferential grooves and unique angled tread grooves enhance wet traction and reduce the risk of hydroplaning. This is an area that the RSA2 has received good reviews in from other drivers. Regardless of speed this tire performs well in the rain, which is a huge improvement over the older RS-A

Driving on the RSA2 is also a pleasant experience when it comes to noise and comfort. It seems a bit more comfortable to ride on than the original tire, and road noise is certainly not an issue here.

Inside the tire are two steel belts that are spirally wrapped with nylon for added strength and increased durability. Goodyear offers this model in either a 19 or 20 inch size, and speed ratings of V or Y.

Overall Thoughts

The RS-A2 is a pleasant surprise from Goodyear. Although its primary use is original equipment on a variety of different vehicles, this is also a tire that makes for a nice replacement on virtually any sport coupe or high performance sedan. Traction and handling are excellent for a high performance all-season tire, and the ride is very comfortable.

If you are a driving enthusiast that likes to push your vehicle hard in the corners, you might be a bit disappointed with this tire. The sidewalls are softer than some of the other top tires have in this class. To be fair, the RSA2 wasn’t designed for race track like cornering power. Being an OE tire it is built to satisfy the needs of everyday drivers looking for a combination of performance and comfort.

Treadlife is very good on this tire, which is evidenced by many reviews from other drivers as well. We would like to see the addition of many more sizes with this model.

Overall we rank this tire in the upper half of the high performance AS class.

Warranty

Goodyear provides a limited tread warranty on the RS-A2. Tire uniformity is guaranteed for one-year or the first 2/32 inch of wear. Materials and workmanship are warranted for 6-years and include free replacement during the first year or first 2/32 inch of wear. A prorated amount is given down to the final 2/32 inch of tread depth.
