Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar Tire Review & Rating

The Eagle F1 Supercar high-performance tire from Goodyear is specially designed to provide maximum dry and wet traction along with massive amounts of cornering grip for drivers of high-end sports cars.

An ultra-high performance AAtrax tread compound and asymmetric tread pattern allow this tire to push the limits in dry and wet traction. Goodyear’s race-inspired multi-radius mold shape helps provide precise handling and increased steering response. Larger outer shoulder blocks and intermediate treadblocks enhance stability and grip, while the continuous center rib increases straight line tracking and steering control.

The tire’s wider circumferential grooves and shoulder block design provide for enhanced wet surface handling. It also reduces the risk of hydroplaning and adds to driving confidence, which it does very well. The AAtrax in the compound name signifies that Goodyear has earned the highest level for wet traction ratings.

Inside the tire you will find two steel belts that are reinforced with spirally wrapped Aramid for added stability and durability at higher speeds. Polyester body plies increase ride comfort and further add more durability to the tire. There is also a built-in rim protector to help in preventing damage to your custom wheels. The Eagle F1 Supercar is available in 17-22 inch sizes and comes with a limited tread warranty.

Pros

  • Dry traction and cornering grip is exceptional
  • Steering is quick and provides good feel
  • Wet handling
  • Ride comfort is better than expected

Cons

  • Would like to see longer treadlife
  • Tires get noisier as they wear

Overall Thoughts

Driving with these F1 Supercar tires on dry pavement is nothing short of exhilarating. The massive amounts of grip they provide in the corners is simply among the best you’ll find in its class. Getting them to break loose is about as difficult as getting members of congress to agree on a budget. The steering response is quick and provides excellent feedback whether the road is wet or dry.

Although ride comfort may not be on your list of importance with a high performance tire like this, it is decent, although not as well as some. Road noise is not that pronounced until the tire begins wearing down, then it gets a bit louder.

The only real knock on this model is the tread life. It’s shorter than we would like, which is an area frequently mentioned by other drivers as well. Complaints range from uneven treadwear to only getting 15K miles out of them. Naturally, some of this is determined by driving style, but we feel there is room for improvement.

Overall, if dry/wet traction and cornering grip are what you are looking for, this is a nice choice in tires. But if comfort and a longer treadlife is what you are seeking in addition to high performance, then you might look at tires like the Michelin Super Sport, Continental ExtremeContact DW or the Bridgestone Potenza S-04 Pole Position.

  1. My Dodge Challenger has less then 9k miles, I have 2 tires that have little slices where tire is separating . Our warranty doesn’t cover tires but this should be a manufacturing issues, who can help me on this matter?

  2. These tires are crap! I am not even at 19000 miles and the cords are showing thru already. Don’t buy these!!! These came on my 2014 Dodge Challenger.
