Goodyear Assurance TripleTred All Season Tire Review & Rating

The new Goodyear Assurance TripleTred All Season is the company’s 2nd generation model for this particular tread design. The original TripleTred was somewhat of a breakthrough in tire technology, but this new redesign has attempted to take things a step further.

Built for drivers of all types of coupes, sedans, minivans and other vehicles, the TripleTred AS features three distinct tread zones that work together in attempting to provide the best possible all-season traction.

First, the outer Dry Zone sports larger outside tread blocks along the shoulders that enhance cornering grip and steering response on dry pavement. Next is the Water Zone, which features unique Aquachutes in the tread channels that work to evacuate more water and slush away from the tire, giving you better handling and control on wet streets.

Finally, the Ice Zone utilizes Goodyear’s high tech tread compound and an interlocking tread pattern to go with a continuous center rib and numerous biting edges that provide added grip in snow, sleet and slick ice covered road surfaces. The addition of Evolving Traction Grooves help the tire maintain its traction as the tire begins to wear down.

An optimized tread compound gives this tire its long tread life. Goodyear backs it up with an 80,000 mile tread life warranty. (70,000 miles on V-speed rated tires)

Inside the tread you will find two steel belts that are spirally wrapped with polyamide to add more strength and durability at higher speeds. It helps give the tire a more even tread wear and a longer life.

Overall Thoughts

As a 2nd generation model, Goodyear has a winner on its hands. These tires handle and grip the pavement very well, whether it is dry, wet or snow and ice covered. In fact, it can be challenging to force them to break loose. Ride comfort is quite good for an all-season tire, and the warranty coverage Goodyear has on this tire is excellent.

Materials and workmanship are covered for 6-years and include free first year replacement or first 2/32 inch of wear. Goodyear prorates the amount for the remaining time period or down to the last 2/32 inch of tread depth.
