The Goodyear Eagle Ultra Grip GW3 is the company’s high-performance winter tire offering. Built for drivers of various sport coupes and luxury sedans, Goodyear uses a wide range of tire technology to get you safely through any type of winter weather you might encounter on the roadway.

An exclusive high-performance tread compound is matched to a directional tread pattern to create dependable traction in types of winter driving conditions. Hundreds of added sipes provide the biting edges to help you on ice covered roads, while Goodyear’s unique V-TRED technology is designed to increase grip on wet or slush covered pavement, an area that this tire does well.

In addition, Goodyear utilizes rounded shoulders, independent tread blocks and a continuous center rib to improve handling and cornering grip whether the roads are dry or wet.

Overall Thoughts

Compared to other high-performance winter tires, this Goodyear model lands somewhere in the middle of the pack in our opinion. There’s no doubt that it does a solid job of getting your around in snow, slush, hard-packed snow, ice and any other kind of winter weather conditions. That’s a real plus for the GW3. In addition, it confidently grips the pavement when they turn wet.

Where we would like to see improvements made would definitely be an uptick in the steering response. While this is common with most winter tires, the steering is just a little slower than it is on other top tires. The other area would be an increase in treadlife. Sure, it’s a winter tire, but it’s a bit faster on this tire than others, especially for more spirited drivers.

Overall with its good performance in winter conditions, lower price than Michelin or Nokian, and it’s better than average tread life, we like this Ultra Grip 3.

Goodyear provides a limited tread warranty on the Ultra Grip GW3. Tire uniformity is guaranteed for the first year or first 2/32 inch of wear. Materials and workmanship are warranted for 6-years and include free replacement during the first year or first 2/32 inch of wear. A prorated amount is given for the remaining time period or down to the final 2/32 inch of tread depth.
