Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 Tire Review & Rating

Built for serious driving enthusiasts, the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 is designed to provide enhanced dry and wet traction to go with high performance cornering grip. Developed for sports cars, coupes and sedans, the GS-D3 features a European tread design and the latest in Goodyear’s tire technology.

The directional OneTRED design features a unique AAtrax tread compound that is engineered to provide AA rated wet traction, which is the highest rating possible, and increased dry road surface grip without giving up on treadwear.

Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 Tire Review

The tire’s OneTRED design creates three distinct tread zones for enhanced steering response, increased dry traction and cornering grip, and finally, exceptional wet pavement handling. The notable aqua-channel tread grooves around the tire are built to the edge of the shoulder in order to better channel away water and reduce the risk of hydroplaning. It’s a design that works extremely well as noted by many driver reviews.

Inside the tire you will find two high-tensile steel belts with a nylon reinforcement for added strength and durability at higher speeds. Goodyear has also added an angled body ply that sports higher ply turn ups for increased stability and steering response. A built-in rim protector helps inpreventing accidental curb damage. Sizes ranging from 16-18 are available and come with up to a Y-speed rating.

Pros

  • Dry and wet traction are outstanding
  • Glue like cornering grip
  • Excellent steering response
  • Very comfortable ride

Cons

  • Softer tread shortens treadlife

Overall Thoughts

With its distinct tread design and excellent performance, there’s a lot to like about the GS-D3. This is one of the better high performance tires you’ll find for driving on wet pavement. We really like the way it doesn’t lose traction in the corners or hydroplane in the puddles.

Dry traction and cornering grip exceeds expectations. If you’re an enthusiast who enjoys taking the corners harder than most, you shouldn’t be disappointed with this model. The softer tread that helps give the tire its outstanding cornering grip does come at the expense of tread life, but it’s a tradeoff that we don’t mind making with this tire.

One area that may be a surprise for you is the ride comfort. It’s definitely not a harsh ride. This is another big plus for this tire for those who drive on this tire on the highway. Overall, this Goodyear tires ranks right up there and just below the likes of the BFG Sport Comp 2 or Bridgestone S-04 Pole Position.
