Goodyear Assurance Touring Tire Review & Rating
The Goodyear Assurance Touring tire is built to deliver dependable all-season traction and handling for drivers of all types of coupes, sedans, minivans and crossovers. Featuring a smooth and quiet ride to go with a longer treadwear, the Assurance Touring is available exclusively through Discount Tire.
An advanced all-season tread compound and symmetric tread pattern provide solid traction on dry pavement, while the center rib adds more on-center feel and quickens the steering response. You can also expect to find good overall braking and acceleration performance on both dry and wet streets.
Four circumferential grooves combine with wider lateral grooves and rounded inner ribs to channel away water on wet road surfaces and reduce the risk of hydroplaning. Goodyear utilizes zig-zag sipes around the tread in addition to the lateral grooves to give the tire enhanced grip on snow, slush and ice covered roads, an area in which this model performs very well.
The Assurance Touring uses a solid bead design and chamfered tread edges for added ride comfort. For a lower costing touring all-season tire, the ride is more smooth and comfortable than you might expect.
Inside the tread are two steel belts with a polyester cord body which add strength and durability for a longer tread life. It sports a 580 UTQG rating, and Goodyear offers sizes ranging from 15-17 inches. There is a 70,000 mile tread warranty included as well.
- Dry and wet traction
- Smooth ride that is comfortable on the highway
- Good value for the money
- A little noise as the tire wears down
Not to be confused with the Assurance ComforTred Touring, the Assurance Touring sports its own unique tread design and is available only through Discount Tire. We like this tire for its well-rounded performance and solid value. Traction and handling in all types of weather and road conditions is equal to what you will find on many comparable tires costing much more.
The ride is smooth and comfortable, although you might find a little extra road noise as the tire ages. Treadlife has proven to be above average among others in its class.
Overall the Assurance Touring is a very good all-season tire that is ideal for anyone looking for a dependable every day driving tire that comes at a lower cost.
