With an eye towards providing the best in passenger comfort, all-season traction and a long tread life, the Goodyear Assurance ComforTred Touring has a lot going on.
Designed for drivers of sport coupes, sedans, minivans and other vehicles, Goodyear states that the ComforTred Touring provides up to 20% more cushion than other passenger tires. This is due in part to Goodyear’s Special Comfort Layer, which is basically an added layer of soft rubber, in the tread that fits between the tread and the steel belts. An outer ComfortEdge in the sidewall layer further enhances comfort by absorbing those nasty road shocks.
Delivering a smooth, quiet ride is not all that this tire is about. All-season handling and traction is improved through an asymmetric tread design that includes four wide circumferential grooves, notched intermediate ribs and independent shoulder blocks. They combine to provide enhanced dry pavement grip and improved handling. The on-center feel this tire provides is excellent.
The Inner Handling Sidewall layer is created to further increase handling and steering response at higher speeds. Another thing you’ll find is that it goes through the rain and light to moderate snow and slush better than expected. Numerous notches and tread sipes form biting edges that work together in getting through the snow and other wet road surfaces.
Inside the tread are two steel belts that are spirally wrapped with nylon to give the tire increased strength and stability at higher speeds. They also create a smoother ride and better overall tread life. Sizes are available from 15-18 inches, and speed ratings of T, H and V.

Overall Thoughts
The Goodyear ComforTred Touring is one of our better choices in all-season touring tires. We believe the combination of all-weather performance, riding comfort and the longer tread life is right up there among the likes of other tires such as the Michelin Premier A/S, Pirelli Cinturato P7 All Season Plus and Cooper CS5 Ultra Touring.
Steering response is quick and precise on this tire, and the handling and cornering stability is far above average. It feels like a high performance tire at times.
The only issue you may find on this tire would be some added road noise once it begins to wear out, but our own experience has not found that to be true. Goodyear provides an 80,000 mile tire warranty which is among the better models in this category.
Overall, we feel this is one of Goodyear’s best models in their lineup and highly recommend it.

Warranty
The Assurance ComforTred Touring is backed by Goodyear’s 6-year or 80,000 mile tread life warranty on T and H-speed rated tires. For V-speed rated tires it is 6-years or 70,000 miles. Tire uniformity is guaranteed for 6-months or the first 2/32 inch of tread wear.
Materials and workmanship are covered for 6-years and include free replacement the first year or first 2/32 inch of tread wear. Goodyear prorates out the amount for the remaining time period or down to the final 2/32 inch of tread depth left on the tire.
You also get a 2-year roadside warranty and 30-day test drive whereby you can exchange the tires for another Goodyear model if you are not satisfied.

I have the Goodyear Assurance Comfort Drive tires.. Right off the bat I noticed a decrease of perhaps 2 to 3 mpg. Ok, I thought, new tires, higher tread, somewhat expected… Tires wandered a bit for a couple hundred miles than settled down.. Tires checked for air frequently and rotated at 5k. All went ok until I started hearing a very slight hum but not enough to bother me too much. Then summer came and the windows went down and the hum was more and more noticeable. They now have 10k on them and I just rotated the tires again hoping the noise would at least be shifted to the back of the car… Nope, the same winter tire type hum except they aren’t WINTER TIRES.. I’ve taken it to the shop, had the wheel bearings checked as well as the CV joints.. All OK.. I honestly don’t know if I can handle another 50k ( assuming they would go that long ) with this tires but I have over a grand in tires on my 2 wheel drive Ford Escape…. I’ve had much cheaper tires in the past 40 years with hardly any noise at all.. Would I buy these again ? Definitely not… VERY disappointed. I’d love to have a Goodyear rep show up at my tire store and have him take it for a spin to saee what kind of an excuse he could come up with..
Can I use the Goodyear Assurance Maxlife VSB tires on my 2006 Lexus 400h?
I just purchased a set of GoodYear Assurance ComforTread Touring for my 2013 Subaru Outback. These are the NOISIEST tires I have ever purchased. They drone on and on in a rhythmic pattern which drives me crazy. I thought the only way to get rid of this obnoxious drone was to turn the radio up really loud to drown it out, but I found another way…..I’m taking them back to the tire store and exchanging them for something else! At least they have a 30 day satisfaction guarantee.
Would these tires be a good choice for a goldwing trike?
I have put the Comfort Tread Touring tires on my wife’s Camry, my Camry, and my Honda Accord. All three sets were the quietest tire and most comfortable tires we have ever had on our cars. They all have been long wearing – my Toyota Camry had just under 70,000 miles on them with plenty of tread left (the key to tread life is proper inflation and rotating these tires every 5,000 miles). Every oil change included rotating the tires. We have retired and I am getting ready to put these on our GMC Terrain, replacing the OEM Michelin tires. I cannot recommend these Goodyear tires enough!
Assurance, Goodyear are great in Florida for cars like Camry that get down pours in certain parts of the Highway ,but for heavy cars like Genesis , Cadillac , Lincoln that another story .
Have you rotated the tires every 5,000 miles as recommended by Goodyear? Have you kept them properly inflated?
I have a 2011 Honda Accord ex-l. I have two tires with around 40,000 and 2 with 20,000. I have had the tires for 2 years. They have horrible road noise (esp. the tires with 40,000) though there is plenty of tread and no uneven wearing! I went to Costco, toask about their brands, they don’t sell good year, they say “good year, they are only good for a year”. I’m starting to believe that to be true..
Initially, we had Comfortred Tourings on our 2013 Elantra, which had excellent turn-in, smoothness, handling, braking, & were pretty quiet. We transferred the Comfortreds to our 2016 Elantra & they continued their excellent traits. At a total of 40,000 miles, they appear to be well on their way to 60,000+ miles. In mid-stage life, tire turn-in, smoothness & quietness are NOT as at first. But, handling & braking continue, apace. We are happy with the Comfortreds. They were expensive for tires made in Chile, which prompted me to buy used tires, ever since.
Comfortred update at 6-16-22: These tires did go 60,000+ miles for my wife, till we bought new Les Schwab Reputations for her & put the Comfortreds on my car for another 10,000 miles. The Comfortreds lasted & performed well. Was very happy with them, despite the high price.

We have a Honda CRV. Several years ago, it needed new tires and I wanted to “upgrade” to quiet tires. I read reviews and talked to Goodyear sales guy. Everything pointed to the Comfort Tread. It’s time to replace them now and I can’t wait to find a quiet tire, these aren’t, not in a 2007 CRV! Trouble is, who does one believe about a quiet tire. They all claim it!

After reading all the reviews, I have advised my daughter-in-law to purchase this tire over the Michelin Touring which I’ve had on our Pathfinder for the last 4 years with no complaints. The price difference was a huge factor so I hope that my advice to her is well warranted by Goodyear. Either way, I will surely post the results of her satisfaction.

I have hade them on a 2010 grand caravan for 4 years now and have had no noise problem. Tread wear is good on them. They are good in the rain and on snowy roads. I would recomend them. I also had a set on my daughters sunfire and they were a good tire on that vehicle also. Very pleased with this tire.
These are excellent tires. Put a set of these on my 2002 Kia Sedona. It’s a heavy vehicle, almost 5,000 lbs. Minivans are heavy vehicles in general, and are know to eat tires, esp front tires. The original tires (Kuomo, Korean-made) were terrible. Noisy, lousy in the wet, and wore out quickly. While I lived in Calgary, Alberta ( 8 month winters) I ran snows year-round. Moved to N. Carolina 2 yrs ago, and changed tires to the Goodyear Assurance Comfortreds ASR’s. They’re really quiet, wearing well (I’m at about 15,000 mi) and are surprisingly steady in the wet. I don’t normally take the time to post reviews, but the reason I bought the tires was because of several online reviews that were thoughtful and detailed, and on the strength of those reviews, I bought them online (no local Goodyear dealers seemed to stock them) and had them installed locally. So…. playing it forward.
Thre years ago put Goodyear Assurance ComforTreds on my Chrysler Pacifica and have not regretted it. Have 45K+ with at least 20K left. Great ride, quite, super in the Florida downpours, and very good handling. It deserves the great reviews it’s been getting. Can’t go wrong with this tire or the Michelin Primacy MXV4 though the GY’s will save you $$..
Put the Goodyear Comfortreds on to replace the OE Bridgestones on our 2010 Camry. I debated between this tire and the Michelin, but ended up going with GY due to the reviews on the ride and the price difference. Glad I did because what a difference in the ride they immediately made. You felt every pothole on the old tires. You don’t feel any of the harsh bumps on these new Goodyears. Recently went on a trip from TX to MO and they performed well. Very quiet on the highway and handled a downpour with no trouble at all. I’m happy and now my wife wants a set on her minivan.
