General Grabber ATX Tire Review & Rating

Set to roll out in March 2018, the General Grabber ATX is the company’s next-generation all-terrain tire. The ATX takes some of the best elements of the Grabber AT2 and Grabber X3 to provide impressive on and off-road performance.

Usinig their unique DuraGen Technology, the ATX sports a tough cut and chip resistant tread compound for enhanced strength and better wear. Added Traction Notches around the tire increase traction in dirt, sand and mud, as well as on snow covered pavement.

The General ATX features the Three-Peak Mountain Snowflake emblem, making its traction and handling in winter conditions on par with a dedicated winter tire. This model is also studdable for drivers who need the extra grip on the ice.

General is making 22 different sizes available that range from 16-20 inches. We will have a full review on the new ATX as soon as it becomes available.

  1. They are a bit wider than the Grabber AT2 which they replace so they handle noticeably better on the turns. They are very good on the road when there is a few inches of snow ( zero to three inches ) – the grip is quite impressive. They arent as good as the AT2’s in deep snow (8 inches plus) .

  2. Just purchased four of the general grabber at2. Drove home and looked at tires. One already has such a bad bubble on the sidewall pulling the bead from the rim, just more crappy manufacturing with glossy marketing in my opinion.Paid 120$ and got soxty miles on it. Yeah keep patting yourselves on the back general tire.p.s. your website has little information but alot of pictures of rugged men, pretty darn gay in my opinion.

  3. Just bought a set for my 2013 4Runner. I am VERY impressed. Very quiet at highway speeds.
One item to note; these tires have polyamide in the belts. Polyamide = Kevlar. Goodyear charges a high premium for their tires with Kevlar. General should advertise the belt construction.

  4. Just bought grabber atx, for my hd2500 silverado. They feel very good so far. To my surprise, they are very quiet at all speeds. Balanced ok, priced right, deep tread and studable, although I did not do that. I will post again after several miles and in snow / ice.

  5. I run the ATx tires on my Tacoma and have had no issues with them. Any thoughts on the 2ply sidewall for a heavy F350 4×4 with a camper onboard? thanks.

  6. The best AT tire I have ever owned. I took a chance in buying these when they first hit the market in March. What a great move! The traction is incredible and the noise isn’t that bad either. I would recommend these tires to everyone.

  7. I just got these. So far, I love them. I will be going on a long trip soon. And I will do some of road. So o will update after my experience with them.

  8. I don’t know about tread compounds, but the tread looks almost like the AT2 with a little different shaped blocks at the edge.
