General Grabber APT Tire Review & Rating
The General Grabber APT all-terrain tire is built for on-road and off-road use, and is mainly used as original equipment on vehicles like the Nissan Titan among others. This aggressive looking tire is designed to provide the versatility you need for different driving conditions throughout the year.
Thanks to their advanced, aggressive tread design, Grabber APT tires provide competent traction off-road in most terrains. We say most because this model tends to struggle in soft sand and mud.
M+S rated and featuring sipes around the tread surface, it delivers reliable performance on wet pavement or on snow and slush. Deep circumferential grooves add to wet traction and reduce the risk of hydroplaning. Reviews from other drivers mention that the General APT is surprisingly quiet, considering they are LT tires.
General offers 18-inch LT and non-LT sizes in the Grabber APT, with E load ratings on LT sizes. A limited tread warranty is also provided.
Pros
- Excellent off-road performance in dirt, grass and gravel
- Good stability on the highway
- Dry and wet traction
- Treadwear
Cons
- Struggles in soft terrains such as sand and mud
- Tires tend to get noisy as they wear down
Overall Thoughts
There are many reasons to like the General Grabber APT tire. It’s eye-catching, aggressive appearance will enhance your light truck, heavy-duty truck or 4×4 vehicle, but the traction and handling it provides in different driving conditions is just as impressive as its good looks.
Owners of these tires have found that they perform well on the road, even at highway speeds and have longer tread wear than many of their A/T counterparts. However, these tires really come into their own when they are used on snow, gravel, on rocky terrains. That said, one of the main drawbacks of Grabber APT is the fact that they can struggle when you are driving through softer surfaces such as sand and mud.
Overall, while this tire doesn’t rank with the top models in the AT class like the BFG T/A KO2, Cooper AT3 and many others, it’s not a bad option for those living on farms, in rural areas or on job sites.
