Fierce Instinct ZR Tire Review & Rating
As a Goodyear performance brand, the Fierce Instinct ZR is designed as an ultra-high performance tire for drivers of sport coupes, sedans and other high performance vehicles. These ZR tires utilize the latest in tire technology to go with an aggressive appearance and all-season drivability.
An exclusive all-season tread compound, asymmetric tread pattern and continuous center rib are created to deliver increased dry traction and stability, as well as quicker steering response and reduced braking distance, which is a strength for this model.
Twin circumferential grooves and Fierces’ unique all-season tread zone provide improved wet traction and handling and reduce the risk of hydroplaning in bad weather. Biting edges around the tread blocks add more grip and increase performance on snow and other winter weather conditions, although this is by no means a substitute for a winter tire.
Inside the tire are dual steel belts with a polyester cord body that deliver added stability and durability to the tire. There’s also a built-in rim protector that helps in preventing damage from curbs. A 30,000 mile tread warranty comes with this tire.

Overall Thoughts
If you haven’t heard much about Fierce tires or the Instinct ZR in particular, it would be easy to overlook them and go with a more familiar name brand. But we found that this tire provides some of the same performance as ultra-high performance all-season models from Bridgestone, Goodyear and others… and at a lower price point.
Traction on dry or wet pavement is excellent on this tire. It doesn’t slip in the rain unless you’re hammering the accelerator, and the steering is quick and responsive for the most part. You get a good feel for the road regardless of speed. Grip on snow and ice is predictably poor, which is a common issue with most high performance all-season tires. So no surprise there.
Perhaps the biggest potential downside with this tire is a shorter treadlife. We’ve heard from other drivers who claim to have gotten only 25,000 miles from the tread. To be fair, we’ve also heard some drivers getting upwards of 50,000 miles plus as well. But all in all, we would like to see a bit better treadlife. Another problem for a few drivers has been the inability to get the tires to balance out right for whatever reason.
Overall, the Fierce Instinct ZR is a very good choice in an ultra-high performance tire for those looking to save themselves a substantial amount of money and still get the most year-round performance from their tires.

Warranty
Fierce provides a 30,000 mile tread warranty on the Instinct ZR. Tire uniformity is warranted for 6-months or the first 2/32 inch of wear. Materials and workmanship are guaranteed for 6-years and include free tire replacement during the first year or first 2/32 inch of wear. A prorated amount is given for the remaining time period or down to the final 2/32 inch of tread depth.

I have a set 245/35zr20 trying to find out the tread pattern
My wife has these on her VW Tiguan. I don’t like the look, but she likes the handling and that is what is important to me. Recently we got some VERY unusual heave rain here in So California. She was very pleased with how they did in the down poor conditions.
Ive, had these tires on my 2005 Dodge Stratus R/T Coupe for 4 1/2 years around 40-50K miles. I live in Nebraska These tires do excellent on Dry and in Rain and never seen to wear out I have not even rotated them yet just getting ready too. However on the cons side. They do not grip snow and ice at all slide all over, and they are a noisy tire and a stiff rideing tired it feels like
