Falken Azenis ST115 Tire Review & Rating

With a combination of attractive looks and high performance, the Azenis ST115 from Falken offers drivers of performance coupes and sedans an option in summer driving tires.

Falken has incorporated a unique new tread compound for this tire that includes micro vacuum capsules that eliminate road noise. It works amazingly well as the ST115 is one of the most quiet high performance tires you’ll find today. We would love to see this technology in other models as well.

The directional tread design sports a low profile and wider grooves for increased traction and cornering on dry road surfaces. The rounded outside shoulders give added steering response.

Inside the tire you will find two steel belts that are reinforced with nylon cap plies. Falken has also added additional sidewall reinforcement to improve cornering and strengthen the tire for better wear. A 45,000 mile treadlife warranty is provided as well.

Pros

• Good dry and wet pavement handling 
• Ride is extremely quiet for any tire in this class 
• Attractive tread design 
• Low price makes for a good value 

Cons

• Would like to see a stiffer sidewall 
• Treadlife could be better 

Overall Thoughts

Falken has some very good high performance tires in their lineup, but we feel this model falls a bit short. Yes, traction and handling are good, and the ride is exceptionally quiet for this type of tire. There is also a 45,000 mile tread warranty. That said, we would like to see better cornering power, but the softer sidewall construction makes that impossible.

The other issue is the shorter tread life being reported by too many other tire owners. Overall, we would put this tire in the middle to lower half of its class.
