Falken Azenis PT-722 Tire Review & Rating

Falken is known for their line of summer performance tires, but the Azenis PT-722 is their first high performance touring all-season model. Developed for drivers of sport coupes and sport sedans, Falken has used some of its latest tire technology to give this tire the type of performance you would expect.

Dry surface traction and stability is enhanced with the asymmetrical tread design and unique rib groove around the tread. Added lateral grooves and circumferential grooves give the PT-722 its wet traction capabilities.

Falken Azenis PT-722 Tire Review

Tread life is maximized by the use of a high density casing ply that works to enhance tread wear resistance. Falken has also included treadwear indicators to make it much easier for drivers to know when it is time to rotate the tire, resulting in a longer tread life as well.

Inside the tire you will find twin steel belts with a jointless nylon cap ply that combine to give the tire more strength and durability at higher speeds, while also improving overall ride quality, which is something many drivers have remarked on. You’ll get a 40,000 or 60,000 mile tread guarantee depending on the treadwear rating of the tire you’ve chosen.

Pros
  • Handling and traction on dry pavement is above average
  • Tire is quiet and comfortable on all types of roads
  • Very good tread life

Cons

  • Wet and snow traction could be better

Overall Thoughts

We give the Falken PT-722 props for its dry surface traction and steering response. Cornering grip and all-around stability on the highway is very good as well. The ride is comfortable and although there is a little road noise, it is not excessive by any means. Another strong point for it is in providing a longer tread life.

Where this tire could do better in is handling and traction on wet pavement. It tends to slide under more spirited driving conditions. This is something mentioned by several drivers in reviews as well. The other area of concern is grip on snow and ice covered road surfaces. As road conditions worsen, so does the traction.

Overall, this model does a pretty good job, especially when you factor in the lower price point. We give it a rank in the mid to upper half of the class for high performance touring all-season tires.
