Dunlop SP Sport Signature Tire Review & Rating

Developed for today’s sports cars, coupes and sedans, the Dunlop SP Sport Signature uses the latest in tire technology to deliver all-season performance and increased year round driving enjoyment.

The tire features two different tread zones: a Dry Performance Sector and a Wet Performance Sector.

Dunlop SP Sport Signature Tire Review

The Dry Sector includes notched intermediate and center ribs to go with a solid outside shoulder rib that combine to improve overall handling and steering response. The stiffer sidewall, due to the hard rubber sidewall inserts, and straight sipes enhance cornering grip and stability.

The Wet Sector utilizes Dunlop’s Hydro-PaddleTechonology which uses unique full depth tread grooves and a silica compound to help expel more water away from the tire on wet surfaces.

Inside the tread are two steel belts that use JointLess Band nylon that give the tire added durability and stability at higher speeds, while also providing greater riding comfort.

Pros

  • Excellent dry surface grip
  • Steering response is very good
  • Road noise is minimal and tire has quality riding comfort

Cons

  • Wet traction could be better
  • Tredwear has been an issue for some drivers

Overall Thoughts

The Dunlop SP Sport Signature is a nice option among high performance all-season tires. Despite wet traction and overall treadwear being just under the top performing tires in this category, it maintains impressive dry surface handling to go with its quiet, comfortable ride. Warranty coverage is also solid on this model. All in all it is a decent option in an all-season tire.
